Cubic Right Angle Weave(CRAW) is a bead-weaving technique that forms small cubes. Translated into French, we get cubic right-angle weave. This creates a 3D weave with seed beads. CRAW is a variant of RAW. RAW is the flat version and CRAW is the 3D version, often seen as a tube of beads. This weaving technique creates jewelry that is both supple and semi-rigid, with a lovely volume. CRAW is often used as the basis for bracelets or other 3D jewelry with much more complex shapes. The tube is woven and then shaped to create another design. Today, we're simply going to learn the CRAW technique to make a beaded tube bracelet. There are several techniques for making tubes from seed beads. We've already shown you how to crochet spirals, Russian spirals, tubular herringbones and many others. Here's a new technique to add to your bow.
Here, I've chosen Miyuki 11/0 seed beads in colors inspired by nature in autumn: a soft cream that goes with lots of colors, a gold that adds a little light, a warm topaz, and a soft cedar color. These tones combine beautifully to create a bracelet that perfectly complements autumn outfits, whether a chunky, cozy sweater or something a little dressier. Thanks to the different colors of pearls, it easily adapts to most seasonal palettes, while remaining discreet and elegant. PureCrystal Crystal Mesh, meanwhile, adds just the right amount of sparkle with its glittering crystals.
Crystal Mesh is usually assembled as a chain. In this tutorial, we'll separate the crystals so we can use them as beads. You'll need a strong, precise pair of wire cutters to cut the ring that connects them at the back.
This is not a beginners' tutorial. It is recommended for those who have already done some bead weaving with a needle.
The Arabian Nights seed bead mix was used to create my test bead visible at the beginning of the video. It also contains Topaz beads.
