Place the cabochon in the setting and fold back the prongs one at a time with flat tongs. Alternate sides of the setting so that the stone stays in the center.

This jewelry tutorial shows you how to make a necklace that is half pearls and half fancy gold chain. You can choose to wear it with theeye on freshwater pearl spacer in front or choose to showcase the buoy clasp. On this clasp, we have added a charm created with a garnet cabochon. This charm can be removed or replaced very easily. Be careful not to lose it when you open the clasp. The small burgundy beads are also made of garnet. This tutorial is adaptable with other gemstones.
The chain used can be divided into several pieces without cutting it, because the rectangular links can be opened and closed with pliers. You can use pliers with nylon tips to avoid marking the gold of the link.
The freshwater pearl eye spacer is available in other designs. Go to the bottom of the page to see the other patterns. In this tutorial, we use only 2 pearly pearls 4 mm. Here is an idea of bracelet to use your leftover pearls: Wrap bracelet 5 turns blue and pink gold Shell Beads mermaid.

Place the cabochon in the setting and fold back the prongs one at a time with flat tongs. Alternate sides of the setting so that the stone stays in the center.

The chain can be separated into several pieces by opening the rectangular links with two pliers. Separate the chain to obtain a 22 cm piece with a rectangle link on both sides. Close one of the rectangles on the ring of the buoy clasp.

Cut a 28 cm piece of wire. Thread a crush tube, pass through a wire guard and back through the crush tube. Leave 2 cm of wire protruding. Crush the tube with flat pliers or crush bead pliers. Check that the wire is well blocked. Then thread a garnet bead and a pearl bead.

String 20 cm of garnet beads and repeat step 3 to close the thread on the other side. Thread the remaining thread twice through the last beads before cutting off the excess.

Connect the chain and wire with the beads to the spacer with open rings on each side.

Also connect the other side of the wire with the beads to the detachable part of the clasp with a ring. Add a ring to the charm with the cabochon. You can add it into the clasp when you open it.
