Have you ever wondered how to imitate wood with polymer clay ? Well we will release the secret in this tutorial!
We propose to make a set consisting of a necklace and a pair of imitation wood and leather earrings with polymer clay. Indeed, one can create a thousand and one effects of material wood, leather but also cork , marble ... with the Cernit, the Fimo or the Sculpley. The possibilities are limitless !
In this tutorial you will also discover how to use a silk screen on polymer clay . Indeed, this tool allows to print patterns. This technique is easily achievable using a silk screen (called silkscreen in English) and the use of different mediums used to print the patterns. Acrylic paint or Pearl Ex metallized powder can be used. In this tutorial, we present you the technique of printing with acrylic paint.
Go to our technical sheet How to use a silkscreen on polymer clay and with metal powder for another use of silkscreens
STEP 1
In a sahara dough, take 4 bars of dough then cut 2 more bars without mixing them. Cut 2 bars in white and then a caramel bar.

2ND STEP
Mix the 2 sahara bars with the caramel bar to obtain a light caramel. Make with your 3 colors of the cylinders, put them side by side, roll them together on a support then begin to make a twist.

STEP 3
As soon as the twist breaks, make a ball then start the twist again. This step should be repeated 3 times until fine scratches appear.

STEP 4
Cut your cylinder into 3 sections, place them side by side and pass the roll to bind the pasta by putting the stripes vertically. Put everything in the dough machine (medium thickness), paying attention to the direction of the scratches.

STEP 5
Make a mixture of acrylic paint of hers color with a little black paint. Claw your dough with an old toothbrush, prick with needles then quickly pass a coat of paint and wipe with a wipe. Do not iron the wipe several times at the same place as this will damage your dough. Let it dry for a few minutes.

STEP 6
Put your silk-screen on the dough, pass the roll. Place a streak of black paint over the length of the silk-screen spatula and spread it over the stencil. Clean your stencil quickly under soapy water with your fingers.

STEP 7
Take 3 bars of black dough, heat it and pass it to the dough machine at a medium notch. Crumple some baking paper and put it on the dough and roll the roll for a leather effect.

STEP 8
In your wooden plaque cut an aztec head in a triangle. Put it on the leather texture and slide a metal triangle underneath (only 8 mm of metal protrudes). Cut the black dough symmetrically from the wood triangle.

STEP 9
With your rest of wood plate apply again your silk-screen to obtain a second Aztec head. Cut the patterns into equal rectangles. With your toothbrush and your needles start the edge of the rectangles. Skate the edges very slightly with the mixture of paints.

STEP 10
Place your rectangle on a piece of textured leather paste, cut the black dough by making with the flexible blade a rounded on the top and only a few millimeters on the sides and a little further down to have space to make holes. Cook all your pieces at 110 degrees for 30 minutes.

STEP 11
Drill your pieces with a hand mandrel and a fine forest. For earrings you need to drill 3 holes down then one in the middle at the top. For the jumper drill 7 holes in the tip of the triangle and then in the holes of the metal piece.

STEP 12
Thread a gold Buggle bead and a black Miyuki bead on nails, cut a few millimeters of stems and reform a loop. You must make 13.
Three of them will have feathers hanging for the rest it will be sequins.
Pass the 5mm rings in each hole except those in the metal part that need to be larger. For the loops you still have to connect the ear studs to the top ring by adding another ring so that your curls are in front when you wear them. For the jumper pass directly the last chain link in each ring of the metal triangle.
