Step 1: The body
Round 1: Using DMC Natura XL dark green yarn, make 3 stitches in the air using a n°6 hook and close the circle with 1 stitch cast on in the first stitch in the air.
Round 2: Make 6 tight stitches in the circle.
Round 3: Make 2 tight stitches in each of the stitches from the previous round (12 stitches).
Loop 4: Make 2 tight stitches in each of the stitches from the previous loop (24 stitches).
Round 5: Knit 1 stitch tightly in the stitch from the previous round, then knit 2 stitches tightly in the next stitch. Repeat 12 times.
Round 6: Make 1 stitch tight in the stitch from the previous round, make 1 stitch tight in the next stitch and make 2 stitches tight in the next stitch. Repeat 12 times.
Turns 7 to 13: Knit 1 bar in each of the bars of the previous turn.
Turn 14: Make 1 tight stitch in each of the next 6 stitches and then 2 stitches together. Repeat 8 times.
Round 15: Make 1 tight stitch in each of the next 5 stitches, then 2 stitches together. Repeat 8 times.
Round 16: Make 1 tight stitch in each of the next 4 stitches, then 2 stitches together. Repeat 8 times.
Round 17: Make 1 tight stitch in each of the next 3 stitches, then 2 stitches together. Repeat 8 times.
Stuff the body with cotton stuffing after it's too late...
Round 18: Make 1 tight stitch in each of the next 2 stitches, then 2 stitches together. Repeat 8 times.
Round 19: Stitch 1 stitch tightly into each of the next 2 stitches, then 2 stitches together. Repeat 8 times.
Close the ball.
Use the wool needle and light green thread to embroider little v's all around this ball.


Step 2: The head
Step 1: Using light-green DMC Natura XL thread, cast on 3 stitches and close the hoop with 1 stitch cast on.
Round 2: Make 6 tight stitches in the circle.
Loop 3: Make 2 tight meshes in each of the meshes from the previous loop (12 meshes).
Round 4: Make 1 stitch tight in the stitch of the previous round, make 2 stitches tight in the next stitch. Repeat 6 times.
Round 5: Knit 1 chain stitch in the stitch from the previous round, knit 1 chain stitch in the next stitch and knit 2 chain stitches in the next stitch. Repeat 6 times (24 stitches).
Round 6: Knit 1 chain stitch in the stitch from the previous round, knit 1 chain stitch in the next stitch, knit 1 chain stitch in the next stitch and knit 2 chain stitches in the next stitch. Repeat 6 times (30 stitches).
Rounds 7 to 12: Place 1 bar in each of the bars from the previous round.
Round 13: Make 1 tight stitch in each of the next 4 stitches, then 2 stitches together. Repeat 5 times (25 stitches).
Round 14: Make 1 tight stitch in each of the next 4 stitches, then 2 stitches together. Repeat 5 times (20 stitches).
Attach safety eyes.
Using DMC Natura XL yellow thread, embroider a small nose.
Stuff the head.
Sew the head onto the body, slightly offset to the left.
Step 3: Little green balls
Do 2 times:
Round 1: Using light-green DMC Natura XL yarn, cast on 3 stitches and close the circle with 1 stitch cast on the first stitch cast on.
Round 2: Make 5 tight stitches in the circle.
Loop 3: Make 2 tight stitches in each of the stitches from the previous loop (10 stitches).
Round 4: Make 1 stitch tight in the stitch of the previous round, make 2 stitches tight in the next stitch. Repeat 5 times (15 stitches)
Loop 5: Make 1 pressurized stitch in each of the stitches of the previous loop.
Round 6: Knit 1 stitch tightly in each of the next 3 stitches, then knit 2 stitches together. Repeat 3 times.
To be done 1 time:
Round 1: Using light-green DMC Natura XL yarn, make 3 stitches in the air and close the circle with 1 stitch cast on in the first stitch in the air.
Round 2: Make 5 tight stitches in the circle.
Loop 3: Make 2 tight meshes in each of the meshes from the previous loop (12 meshes).
Round 4: Make 1 stitch tight in the stitch of the previous round, make 2 stitches tight in the next stitch. Repeat 6 times (18 stitches)
Round 5: Make 1 stitch tight in the stitch from the previous round, make 1 stitch tight in the next stitch and make 2 stitches tight in the next stitch. Repeat 6 times (24 stitches)
Round 6: Knit 1 close stitch in each of the stitches from the previous round.
Stuff these 3 light-green balls.
Attach one of the 2 small balls to the larger ball, then attach the whole to the body of the cactus, slightly offset to the right.
Then attach the last small green ball to the cactus head.
Step 4: Flowers
Make 5 stitches in the air with the ball of yellow yarn and close the circle with 1 stitch cast in the first stitch in the air.
Make 3 stitches in the air, 3 bridles in the circle, 3 stitches in the air, 1 cast-on stitch and repeat only this step 3 times to make the petals.
Attach the flowers to the cactus.
