Cut two slices of 3D-effect cane. On each slice, trim just a few centimeters from one side so that the patterns along the edge—which are naturally slightly flattened—are not cut off. Place the two slices side by side, making sure the seam is aligned properly so you don’t lose the 3D effect. Here, one slice has been flipped so that the diamonds of the same colors face each other.
Place your slices on black clay that has been rolled out on the widest setting of the pasta machine. Place parchment paper over the designs and use a rolling pin to make small circular motions to smooth out the seam.
