Earring and long necklace set made of polymer clay with a 3D-pattern

Cut two slices of 3D-effect cane. On each slice, trim just a few centimeters from one side so that the patterns along the edge—which are naturally slightly flattened—are not cut off. Place the two slices side by side, making sure the seam is aligned properly so you don’t lose the 3D effect. Here, one slice has been flipped so that the diamonds of the same colors face each other.

Place your slices on black clay that has been rolled out on the widest setting of the pasta machine. Place parchment paper over the designs and use a rolling pin to make small circular motions to smooth out the seam.

Use a hard blade to cut a straight line along the top edge of your rectangle, then along the sides. Use the flexible blade to cut a rounded bottom edge. Outline your design with a strip of black clay that’s the same height.

Repeat the process with the parchment paper to remove the seams from the strip and the design.

Cut along the lines again with the blades, leaving only a few millimeters. Bake at 110 degrees for 30 minutes.

Cut out 2 slices of 3D canes. Use the cookie cutter to cut a 3-cm circle out of each slice. Use the same cutter to cut a crescent shape out of the top of each circle.

Roll out a sheet of black clay; it should be the same thickness as the circles. Place the black circles in the indentations of the lentils, and smooth out the edges with parchment paper and a rolling pin or a card. Cut out another black crescent, leaving a black strip a few millimeters wide. Bake your pieces for 30 minutes at 110 degrees.

Sand your pieces under soapy water with 1000-grit sandpaper, then use micro-mesh to polish them. Using a 16 mm drill bit, drill 2 holes at each corner of the top of the long necklace, then 5 holes at the bottom center. Drill two holes at the top of the clasps, then three at the bottom in the center.

Cut 3 lengths of chain for each loop: one 5 cm long and two 3 cm long. For the long necklace, cut one 8 cm chain, two 7 cm chains, and two 5 cm chains.

Thread a 4mm ring through a link in the center of each length of chain to form the loops. Place the longer length in the center. Take a 3-cm piece of chain and thread the top ring of the loops through the link at each end. Thread another ring through the chain (but not through a link), connect this ring to another ring, and then to the loop holder.

Cut a 70 cm length of chain. Thread your silver rods onto two pins to form a loop. Use these loops to attach the long necklace to the chain. Attach 5mm rings to the center holes of the long necklace. Thread a 3mm ring through the center of your chain sections, just as you did for the loops.
