rhodonite

What does rhodonite mean?

The name of this fine stone (formerly known as "semi-precious" stone) comes from the Greek "rhodon", meaning "rose".

Origin of rhodonite

Rhodonite has been known since ancient times. It was considered an emotional symbol. It was given as a gift to express feelings of friendship.
The Romans and Greeks wore it as a protective amulet to guard against bandits on their travels.

During the Renaissance, it was reputed tobring joy, intelligence and memory.

In Russia, rhodonite was highly prized in jewelry, art and decoration. Tsar Alexander II had the tombstone of his late wife, Maria Alexandrovna, made from a single rhodonite block weighing 49 tonnes (the largest found in the Ural mountains).
Columns, obelisks, vases, basins, statuettes and bowls adorned with this gemstone can be admired in Russian museums and the Palace of St. Petersburg.

What are the properties of rhodonite?

Rhodonite is a natural stone of the Pyroxenoid family. It has a hardness of between 5.5 and 6.5 on the Mohs scale and a density of between 3.4 and 3.7 g/cm³.
Rhodonite is essentially composed of pink manganese and silicon.

What color is rhodonite?

Rhodonite varies in color from light pink to bright red, reddish-brown and magenta, with occasional shades of brown and beige. It is streaked with black or gray cloudy lines and inclusions.
It is often confused with rhodochrosite.

Where is rhodonite found?

This gemstone is found on every continent: Brazil, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan, France, South Africa, Australia, China, Canada, India, Mexico, Madagascar, Russia, Sweden, USA...
It is extracted from manganese ores. Rarely found in its pure state, it is often combined with other minerals.

What are rhodonite's virtues?

Rhodonite has many lithotherapy benefits. It is a balancing, protective and restorative stone. It calms stress and emotional overload, brings tenderness and gentleness, and helps to overcome emotional wounds and traumas from the past.
It also promotes meditation and relaxation, and helps to balance emotions and boost self-confidence.

What is rhodonite's chakra? This pink stone is linked to the heart chakra. It's considered the stone of love, tenderness, sincerity, compassion and mutual understanding.

Please note: our gemstones are not sold for lithotherapy. The effects of stones have not been scientifically proven. Natural stones are no substitute for medical expertise or treatment.

How do I recharge rhodonite?

Over time, rhodonite accumulates negative energies. To ensure that it regains all its benefits, it is important to purify and recharge it regularly.
To purify it, simply soak it in a container of distilled or spring water for a few hours. Then dry with a soft cloth. Be careful not to use tap water or add salt, as this will damage the stone.
Other methods include fumigation with incense or burying the stone in the ground.
To recharge your stone, place it in directsunlight for a few hours. Place it on a quartz cluster or amethyst geode to amplify its action.

How to use rhodonite

Rhodonite's light pink color is perfectly enhanced by the cool tones of 925 sterling silver or stainless steel. But there's nothing to stop you from creating gold-colored jewelry: gold-plated or gold-filled (laminated gold) jewelry finishes give it a luxurious touch.

Combine rhodonite with carnelian to stimulate the creative spirit. To stimulate the heart chakra, pair it with rose quartz or pink aventurine. With labradorite, its protective side will be reinforced.

Which stones should not be combined? On the other hand, lithotherapists advise against combining it with stones that are too powerful, such as turquoise, malachite, emerald, onyx or black tourmaline. They would absorb rhodonite's energy.

¡Hola!
