Labradorite is a very popular gemstone in the world and is highly prized in the field of jewelry. Its magnetic color and the legend that surrounds it make it a magical and mysterious stone.

This natural stone, previously called semi-precious stone, owes its name to the Labrador region in Canada, where it was discovered in 1770 by missionaries. It was already known to the Scandinavian peoples and the Eskimos, who used it as an ornament and elixir.
Did you know that Labradorite stone has a mythical origin? Among the Inuit, a legend tells that the auroras were trapped in rocks located in Labrador. A warrior broke them with his spear and freed the celestial lights. These lights went up to the sky and gave birth to the aurora borealis, but some remained on Earth to give birth to labradorite.
During the 19th century, great jewelers used this fine stone to create jewelry inspired by antiquity or ancient Egypt. Lesser quality labradorite was used to adorn buildings.
Labradorite stone is a gemstone that belongs to the Feldspar family. Its hardness is between 6 and 6.5 on the Mohs scale and its density is 2.70.
It is a natural blue-green stone, with metallic reflections, even with mirror effects, when tilted to the light in a certain way. These shimmering reflections are called adularescence or Schiller phenomenon.
The iridescent effects of this mineral has earned it the nickname Rainbow Moonstone, but it is also known by different names such as Spectrolite, Carnatite, Mauilite, Silicite, Radauite or Hafnefjordite.
Some varieties with a yellow color have been discovered in Oregon and Maine (USA). And deposits of pink and white labradorite are mined in Madagascar.
It is transparent to opaque.
The deposits of Labradorite stone are located in Australia, Canada, the United States, Russia, France, Ukraine, Mexico and Madagascar.
In lithotherapy, labradorite is known to be a stone of protection. It would absorb the negative energies until dissolving them. It would eliminate the stress, the negative waves and the anxieties, to better support the inner calm and the well-being.
Placed on the chakra of the solar plexus (at the level of the stomach), it would facilitate the distribution of the physical and mental energies, would support the commitment, the respect and the tolerance.
Placed on the heart chakra (in the center of the chest), it would promote self-confidence, inner peace and serenity.
Attention: our gemstones are not sold for lithotherapy. Natural stones can in no way substitute for medical expertise or treatment.

As labradorite eliminates negative energies, it is important to purify it to empty it of all that it has accumulated and to recharge it regularly.
To clean it, immerse it one whole night in a bowl of clear, distilled or demineralized, not salted water.
To recharge it, expose it to moonlight for a few hours. Prefer moonlight during full moon cycles! For maximum effectiveness, you can place it on a pile of quartz or an amethyst geode.
Its unique color and metallic sheen will be magnified with 925 Silver or Stainless Steel jewelry findings. But gold-plated and gold-filled will give it an elegant and sophisticated look.
With which stone to associate labradorite ? If you mix it with an amethyst, a rock crystal or a moonstone, you will reinforce its virtues on the spiritual level. To stimulate its power of protection, marry it with a tiger's eye or a black obsidian.
However, do not marry it with an emerald, a peridot, a shungite or a malachite. These stones are too powerful and stifle its benefits.
