How to make adjustable bracelets with gemstones?

How to make adjustable bracelets with gemstones?

Here is a trendy beginner's tutorial that you can customize to your heart's content. The rectangular gemstone beads are available in a dozen different types of stones, as well as the spacer and pendant. The wire used is Linhasita micro-macramé wire , which makes it easy to make knots that hold in place. This makes it easy to create a sliding knot closure. These bracelets are therefore adjustable, which is ideal if you want to give them as gifts!

This tutorial is accessible to beginners and does not require many tools. You don't necessarily need jewellery pliers for the version with the pendant and the beetle. However, for the version with the amazonite spacer, you will need at least a pair of flat pliers to crush the beads or for a nicer finish, a crush bead pliers that will allow you to fold the bead in half and close a crush bead cover over it. You will also need a lighter or a wire burner for the finish.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Prepare the two-component glue by mixing the two parts in equal parts. With a toothpick, apply the glue to the beetle and then place the beetle on the pendant. Wait 24 hours before touching it. Cut 50 cm of wire and thread the beads together. If your wrist is longer than 15 cm, add a rectangle bead on each side.

Step 2

Cross the threads and then cut a new 20 cm piece of thread that you will tie in the centre on the two crossed threads.

Step 3
Adjustable bracelets with labradorite and turquoise beads tutorial : Step 3

You are going to make an alternate overhand knot on the two wires using the third wire. Pass the left wire under the two wires, the right wire under the left wire, over the two wires and through the loop formed by the left wire and tighten (without forcing).

Step 4

Do the same thing but in the opposite direction: Pass the right-hand thread under the two threads, the left-hand thread under the right-hand thread, over the two threads and through the loop formed by the right-hand thread and tighten.

Step 5

Repeat steps 3 and 4 two more times and then cut the two pieces of wire a few millimetres from the last knot. Burn both ends of the threads, being careful not to burn the knot. The melted wire should fuse with the knot.

Step 6

Thread small beads onto each remaining piece of wire. Adjust the opening of the bracelet so that you can thread it through and tie a knot to mark the end of the thread. Trim the excess wire and burn it to finish.

Step 7

The bracelet with the spacer is made in two parts. Cut a first piece of wire of 25 cm and thread a bead to be crushed. Thread the wire through the ring of the spacer and then back through the squeeze bead. Flatten the squeeze bead with the special notch of the squeeze bead pliers. This will flatten the crush bead in half while marking a fold in the centre. Then fold the bead in half with the other end. Take a pearl cover to be crushed, place it on the pearl and close it with the same notch of the pliers. Do the same thing on the other side.

Step 8

String all the beads, check that the length is right for you, then do the same finish as the previous bracelet.

Step 9

Here is another version of the hydrocitrine bracelets. The material list is at the bottom of the page in the variation section.

To make this bracelet, thread 3 golden beads, 1 golden washer, 1 flower washer, 5 yellow quartz heishis, 1 flower washer, 1 golden washer, 1 hydrochitrin tube, 1 golden washere, 1 flower washer, 5 yellow quartz heishis, 1 flower washer, 1 golden washer, 1 hydrocitrine tube, 1 golden washer, 1 pendant fixed on a ring and we do the same thing in mirror on the other side.

The finish is the same as for the other bracelets.
