We're proud to have (finally!) finished that pretty sweater we've been dreaming of. But once again, there's some wool left in our basket. Plenty, but not enough to embark on a new knitting project. Are you familiar with this kind of situation?
And as usual, pieces of wool, or even whole balls of wool, are going to join the others. They accumulate, but you never quite know what to do with them. So we store them in a corner and pile them up without touching them again.
But not this year! Don't let your balls of wool fall into oblivion!
In this practical guide, we suggest how you can recycle your scraps of wool into original DIY creations... without the need to knit. Put away your knitting needles and hooks - all you need is your creativity!
These are perhaps the easiest to make, even for beginners. Plus, you don't need much wool.
Depending on your project, you can make all kinds: long pompons, mini-pompons, round pompons... Little bonus: we show you four ways to make pompons.
What can I do with wool pompons? The sky's the limit: from home decor to costume jewelry and DIY accessories, you can do almost anything with them! All you have to do is listen to your imagination.
For example, make round pom-poms in different colors and assemble them to make a soft, multicolored rug to lay at the foot of your bed.
Create friendly animals to entertain your children. Add sticky eyes to give them a mischievous, fun look. You can also glue on pieces of felt to make ears, paws, beaks or snouts... Success guaranteed!
You can create a multitude of things, like a wall hanging, a colorful tree decoration to put on the Christmas table, a piece of jewelry for a bag, dangling earrings...
These days, natural materials are all the rage in jewelry. So why not create costume jewelry with wool? These dangling earrings will warm up any winter outfit!
To add a soft, colorful touch to your look, opt for bracelets.
And here, of course, we immediately think of the must-have Brazilian bracelet. From the most classic to the most intricate, they enchant our wrists as summer approaches. Often made with cotton thread, they can also be braided with quality wool thread, which is a little stiff and lint-free.
But wool can also be used to make other DIY bracelets.
Like the multi-row bracelet. Very trendy, it's constantly being worn around our wrists. What's more, it's easy to make, simply by wrapping wool around a cord. Let yourself be tempted!
And for a bohemian chic look, personalize a bangle bracelet by wrapping it with a bit of wool.
Want to change your decor? Think DIY wool wall hangings. They're very trendy and bring a Scandinavian and bohemian chic spirit to your interior.
Don't hesitate to multiply them: wall hangings harmonize with any ambience, whether in a bedroom, living room, office, living room or hallway. And why not use them in XXL format to create a headboard?
Take a look at our tutorials for macramé-style wall weaving, a hanging ideal for beginners, a woven hanging with coarse wool or a hanging with dried flowers.
If you're not too keen on bobo wall hangings to decorate your walls, you can always create more original wall decorations.
How about a wall weave combining poetry and lightness? Perfect for a bedroom or living room wall.
Add a touch of magic with a rainbow, for example, for a poetic wall hanging in a child's bedroom.
If you like an ethnic feel, consider a Mexican weave called Ojo de dios (God's eye). Just the thing to bring color into your home!
A bit of wool will give a plain mirror a touch of originality. Give it a makeover and you've got the perfect place for an original wall decoration. Mix it with various decorative elements such as stickers, rattan baskets, hats, photo frames, pictures... In an entrance hall, place it above a console and combine it with coat hooks or a coat stand.

With the return of vintage decorating in recent years, the 70s-stylewoollen lampshade is bound to find its place in the home. It's original, warm and not too difficult to make. Choose your colors and get started!
This woven clutch has it all! It's soft, elegant, trendy and super-practical. What's more, you don't even need a loom to make it. A simple cardboard box is all you need to weave the wool.
You think your wicker basket is looking a bit sad at the moment. Could this be the beginning of a love affair? Rather than put it away in a corner forever, give it a second wind. All you have to do is customize it with a bit of wool and you'll have a unique and original basket at a fraction of the cost.
You know that trendy ball-shaped hanging light you see all over the store? You can make it at home with your own wool.
All you need is an inflatable balloon, liquid superglue and wool.
Inflate a round balloon and coat it with oil or washing-up liquid. Soak a thread of wool in liquid superglue and wrap it around the balloon.
When you've finished, pour the excess glue onto your structure and leave to dry. Once dry, remove the balloon and attach a bulb holder.
Monochrome or multicolored, the result is superbly designed. The size of your light fixture will depend on the size of your inflatable balloon.
All that's left to do is hang up your homemade creation. Of course, it's imperative to take certain precautions, such as switching off the power supply before connecting the wires.
A final creative idea: pretty string art pictures to hang on every wall in the house or place on a sideboard.
What is String Art? It's the art of interweaving threads using nails or pins planted on a support.
Here's a tip: draw your creation on a piece of paper before driving your nails along the design.
You can come up with all kinds of embossed patterns. And why not offer one of these original creations as a gift?
