Our tips for successful resin jewelry

Get off to a good start:

  • Always work in a well-ventilated area.
  • Wear nitrile gloves and a protective mask.
  • Protect your work surface with a silicone mat.
  • For epoxy resin: scrupulously respect the ratios (generally 2:1).
  • For UV resin: make sure the lamp has a power rating of at least 24W.

Tips from our designer:

  • Remove bubbles with a toothpick or by briefly passing a kitchen flashlight over them.
  • For flower inclusions, always make a minimum of 2 pours (the first thin, then the second once dry).
  • Store your UV resin in an opaque bottle away from light.
  • Don't be discouraged: first creations are a learning experience!

What's the difference between epoxy resin and UV LED resin?

Epoxy resin is a two-component system (resin + hardener) that cures in the open air in 24 to 72 hours, depending on the product. It is suitable for large-scale creations and large surfaces. UV LED resin is single-component and cures in just a few minutes under a UV LED lamp. It is ideal for small jewelry pieces, but can only be used in thin layers (maximum 1 cm). We list the advantages and disadvantages of these resins in our technical data sheet.

How long does it take for resin jewelry to dry completely?

For epoxy resins, full curing time varies from 24 to 72 hours, depending on resin type and ambient conditions. We recommend waiting at least 3 days before handling the object intensively. For UV LED resin, curing under the lamp takes 1 to 2 minutes, depending on thickness, but it is advisable to allow 24 hours for optimum polymerization. Ideal conditions are an ambient temperature of 20-25°C.

Can resin be colored with any colorant?

No, not all colorants are suitable. For epoxy resin, use specific resin colorants or stained-glass paints. For UV LED resin, use colorants from the same brand as your resin, and avoid alcohol inks, which prevent curing.

Which moulds to use to create resin jewelry?

Clear or white silicone molds are ideal for resin. For UV LED resin, it's essential to use transparent molds so that the UV light can pass through and catalyze the resin. Specific molds are available for pendants, earrings, rings and even hollowed-out frames for direct filling.
