Discover in this video how to do the herringbone stitch in knitting. The chevron stitch also called herringbone stitch is a very graphic stitch that gives a beautiful woven braided effect. It is ideal for making rugs, cushion covers, plaids...

  • Step 1: Make a right side row.
Make a selvedge stitch, then stitch in the next two from the back of the stitches. Pull out the yarn.
Drop only the first of the two stitches. Leave the second one on the left needle.
Stitch through the next two again and drop only the first of the two. Continue in this manner until the end of your row.
Finish with two stitches together. Drop the first one and knit the second one a second time, twisting it.
  • Step 2: Make a purl row.
Do not make a purl stitch to start your row.
Stitch the needle directly into the first two purl stitches as they appear. Drop only the first stitch of the two.
Finish with two stitches together. Drop the first and knit the second a second time, twisting it.

Knitting is a manual activity that is far from being a has-been. On the contrary, it is totally trendy. It is one of the favorite creative hobbies of women creators, it is even addictive.
It is very satisfying to make your own sweaters, shawls, winter hats, snoods... and even socks! A knitted blanket with the chevron stitch can be a great idea to start mastering this knitting stitch.
