Cut 1 m of thread and thread it onto a size 12 needle. Thread the required number of Delica 11/0 beads according to the size of the cabochon. This number corresponds to rows 1 and 2 of the circular Peyote weave. Thread through the first bead.
Wondering how many beads you need to set a particular cabochon? Here's a table showing the number of Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads needed to set a cabochon.
This table gives an indicative number of Miyuki Delica beads, but the number of Delica beads required may be significantly different due to the tension during weaving or the size of Delica beads used, which may differ slightly from one finish to another. Thanks to "L'atelier de Laulo" for the picture.
Note that this type of setting is made using the circular Peyote technique, and that this technique is always performed with an even number of beads at the start. Star setting is when the number of Delica beads is divisible by 4. Here's an example of a tutorial using a star setting: Earrings with Purecrystal cabochons.

Cut 1 m of thread and thread it onto a size 12 needle. Thread the required number of Delica 11/0 beads according to the size of the cabochon. This number corresponds to rows 1 and 2 of the circular Peyote weave. Thread through the first bead.
Complete row 3 of the weave by threading a new Delica 11/0 bead through the next bead. Tighten and replace the beads side by side. Continue until you've completed the round. At the end of the round, pass through the bead you're supposed to pass through, but also through the first bead threaded in row 3, to position your thread in the right place to start row 4.
Weave row 4, adding a Delica 11/0 bead to each hole formed by row 5. Again, at the end of the round, weave in the first bead threaded in row 4.
Repeat step 3 twice, this time using 15/0 seed beads.
Glue the cabochon into the crimp to facilitate further crimping. Be careful not to apply too much glue, as this will block your pearls.
Pass your thread through the weave to crimp the other side of the cabochon with 15/0 seed beads or, alternatively, add at least one row of Delica 11/0 and sew your crimp to a backing such as suede or felt.
