Miyuki bead shapes and sizes

Miyuki beads are seed beads originally from Japan. Perfectly uniform in shape, they are highly prized by beadworkers and bead weavers. The best-known are Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads, but there are many other shapes and sizes available.

What is the difference between Delicas and seed beads?

• Miyuki Delica beads are tubular in shape and perfectly uniform in size. The size of the beads is identical regardless of color. They are ideal for very uniform weaving.
• Miyuki seed beads have a rounded shape and are fairly uniform. Weaving done with seed beads will have a less flat and smooth finish and will be slightly less uniform than when using Miyuki Delica beads.
