Waterproof flex abrasive sheets – P500
This waterproof abrasive sheet had an ultra fine grit ideal for hand sanding fragile surfaces such as plastic, lacquer and composite materials.
It will therefore be used to smooth and remove roughness from your polymer clay or metal creations.
To remove the slight whitish deposit due to sanding, we will then move on to polishing with even finer grits that we will find in the micro-mesh section.
It is imperative to use it under water!
Tip:
Add a drop of soap to trap the volatile particles from the sanding.
You don't know which grit of paper to choose?
Know that the grit and roughness of the sanding paper is defined according to a classification method.
Remember that the lower the number, the bigger the grit.
We will choose a grit:
- Between 24 and 36 for the drafts.
- Between 40 and 60 for roughing.
- Between 80 and 120 for finishing.
- Between 150 and 220 for finishing.
- Between 240 and 600 for advanced finishing.
- Between 800 and 1200 for lacquers and paints.
In polymer the 1200 grit is the last sanding grit before going on to polishing.
Polymer creations should be sanded with a 600 grit if there is a lot of material to remove. Otherwise the 800 grit will be adequate.
