Multi-row necklace with tourmaline gemstones and resin pendant

Organize all the elements at your disposal on your work surface:
- on one side, all the beads you need to create your finishing touches (connecting rings, clasps, crushable beads, crushable bead covers), which will be used in the end
- on the other side, all the beads available to create your necklace.

Create and simulate your perfect combination with the help of an assembly tray. It's practical in that it lets you compose, adjust and modify the bead sequence before stringing them! What's more, the compartments are handy for separating components, and the markers on the tray give you an idea of the length you've completed and the length left to do. A must-have for any jewelry designer!

Take your measurements beforehand (a single strand of wire that goes twice around your neck) and work out the ideal sequence. Here, the double strand has been designed to have a central rose quartz pearl on the first strand, bordered by two identical rectangle-shaped stones, and a central T clasp on the second strand.

Once you've decided on the right sequence of beads, use wire cutters to cut the required length of wire, making sure to add an extra margin for finishing (approx. 5-8 cm for both sides).

You can either start by placing one side of the clasp and threading the beads from one end , orstart threading from the center of your necklace. This is the option I recommend if your stringing is symmetrical, so that you can adjust the length again and again, adding or removing beads as you reach the ends.

This option only involves securing the end of the wired wire until you add the clasp. To do this, add a folded piece of scotch tape to the end of the wire and the beads won't escape. When you've finished threading the first side, thread the other.

Once you've strung all your beads and checked their length, it's time for the finishing touches. To stop your necklace, proceed in several steps:

1) thread the bead to be crushed onto the wired wire

2) thread the ring of one of the two parts of your clasp (bar or ring as you like) onto the wired wire

3) now pass your wire back through the bead to be crushed (you've now formed a loop) and, if the diameter of your beads allows it, insert your wired wire into some of the beads (about 3/4cm).

4) pull the wire tight so that the clasp is positioned just after the last pearls (and so that there is no wire not covered by pearls visible, especially as the clasp is central to your jewel).

5) using flat-nose pliers, crush the pearl to be crushed so that the two wires running through it are pinched and secured, and cut off the excess wire using wire cutters.

6) Still using a pair of flat-nose pliers, pick up the pearl cover to be crushed (split pearl) and position it over the pearl to be crushed before closing the pearl cover. You should no longer be able to see the pearl to be crushed, but only the pearl cover (which, once closed, looks like a round golden pearl).

To create the third and final row of this necklace stacking, choose either a ready-made choker or a fancy chain of your choice. Measure the ideal length for the pendant to fit under the first two rows.

On one side of your chain, add a lobster clasp using your jewelry pliers and an open connecting ring. On the other, still using the same technique, add an extension chain, or create your own by linking several connecting rings together.

The chain is not compulsory if you've taken the right measurements, but it can be practical if you want to give a piece of jewelry as a gift. You can also wear this necklace independently of the first and adjust its length.

Finally, simply open another ring and insert the pendant of your choice on the chain.

Tip If you're using a ring large enough to fit through the lobster clasp, it's easy to slide on a new pendant. If the ring is small, it's also easy to open the ring to change the pendant. Change it as you wish, keeping the same chain to wear it with different outfits.
