Miyuki half circle earrings in Brick Stitch

How to make earrings with delica Miyuki?

In this new tutorial, you'll learn how to make Miyuki pearlearrings. Airy and openwork, they hang beautifully from the neck. Making your own dangling ear rings is a fun activity you'll love. This tutorial is aimed at intermediate level designers.

The diagram in this tutorial also comes from the former Mystic Galaxy kit, offered in a limited edition by Perles & co, in 2019, just like the bangle bracelet, Miyuki earrings and miyuki pearl pendant we saw earlier. These are the same seed beads you'll be using for this tutorial. Perfect if you've got any left in the bags! But you can redo this original earring design with your favorite colors of Miyuki Delica 11/0 pearls.

In terms of technique, we're going to use Brick Stitch weaving around a ring. But this time, Tiffanie didn't choose to weave the beads on a full circle, preferring to use a half-circle. If you like this weaving technique, take it to the next level by making this pretty pair of Indian-inspired drop earrings with Miyuki beads and crystals.

Once you've finished your pearl weave, all you have to do is connect it to a ball stud ear ring using two pieces of chain andopen rings. You'll just need to know how to open and close a ring.
This tutorial is an anti-wasteful one, as it allows you to use up leftover pearls and chain. Isn't that nice?

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Miyuki half circle earrings in Brick Stitch : Step 1

Cut 1.20m of wire and tie it with a double knot on one of the corners of the pendant. Start by attaching the gold beads on the inner flat part, starting with 2 beads at the same time as explained in the round miyuki pendant tutorial. Then weave the turquoise beads on the outside by repeating the same technique.

Step 2
Miyuki half circle earrings in Brick Stitch : Step 2

Weave the 28 turquoise beads around the pendant. Then weave the gold beads on top. Thread the first gold bead, pass the needle under the thread connecting the last and second to last turquoise bead and back into the gold bead.

Step 3
Miyuki half circle earrings in Brick Stitch : Step 3

Go through the second-to-last turquoise bead and back out through the second-to-last bead to add a new gold bead with the same technique.

Step 4
Miyuki half circle earrings in Brick Stitch : Step 4

Continue weaving the gold beads until you reach the other end of the half circle pendant. Go back into the gold beads you wove at the beginning. Stand in the 6th bead from the edge and string 2 turquoise beads. Thread the needle under the thread connecting the 6th and 7th gold beads and return to the 2nd turquoise bead.

Step 5

Continue by weaving the beads one by one following the pattern.

Step 6

For each new row, attach 2 beads at the same time.

Step 7
Miyuki half circle earrings in Brick Stitch : Step 7

For the tip of the triangle, attach it by itself with the same method as in step 2. Then work your way up to the gold beads and zig-zag through the beads to a corner of the pendant. Cut 4 x 3 cm of chain. Thread through the last ring of one piece of chain. Pass the needle under the bar of the half circle, back through the chain link and then through the gold bead. Pass through the gold beads to the other side and do the same thing. Catch the thread in the weave and cut it.

Step 8

Open the ear hook ring by twisting the end, not by pulling it apart with pliers. Place the other two pieces of chain inside and close it. The last two pieces are for the other earring.
