How to weave beads into an elegant necklace?
If you're a beginner, don't worry, Martine from the blog "Les perles d'Elphy" has put together the perfect step-by-step introduction to the wonderful world of bead weaving , and we bet you'll get the hang of it in no time!
In this tutorial, you'll make a necklace (named Rhodes by its creator) with PureCrystal pearly round beads, mini-drops and Toho Seed beads. At the bottom of the page, you'll find photos of other color combinations... It's up to you to choose your favorite version!

- The measurements shown in this tutorial are for a necklace measuring 43 cm with the clasp in place. Be sure to adjust the length according to your neck size.

Take about 2 m of wire but leave a tail of about 15 cm. Thread a 15/0 seed bead to make a stop bead and knot it. It will then be used to attach the clasp. Then thread 2 seed beads 11/0, 1 seed bead 8/0, 1 mini-drop, 1 seed bead 8/0, 2 seed beads 11/0, 1 seed bead 8/0, 1 pearl bead 3 mm, 1 seed bead 8/0. Iron in the 2 11/0 seed beads.
Pass the thread through the 8/0 seed bead, the mini-drop and the 8/0 seed bead. Then re-thread 1 seed bead 8/0, 1 mini-drop, 1 seed bead 8/0, 2 seed beads 11/0, 1 seed bead 8/0, 1 pearl bead 3 mm and 1 seed bead 8/0.
Pass the seed bead 8/0, the mini-drop and the other seed bead 8/0 through the circles again (as shown in the photos below), and so on, to obtain 56 circles, i.e. 43 cm including the clasp.
( or 60 circles if you have a stronger neck, i.e. 46 cm of necklace).
Your necklace begins to take shape under your fingers!
Thread a 15/0 seed bead, a 3 mm mother-of-pearl bead, 3 15/0 seed beads, the clasp ring, then 3 15/0 seed beads, a 3 mm mother-of-pearl bead and a 15/0 seed bead, then pass through the 2 11/0 seed beads. Iron a second time around the clasp to reinforce your work. You'll need 2 m of thread again. Pass the thread through the 8/0 seed bead, then through the 3 mm pearl, through the 8/0 seed bead and through the 2 11/0 seed beads.
String 2 seed beads 15/0, one 4 mm pearl, one seed bead 15/0.
Pass your thread through the 4 mm pearl, the 2 15/0 seed beads and the 2 11/0 seed beads. Pull the thread to place the beads in continuity with the 11/0 seed beads and in relief.
Pass through the 8/0 seed bead, the 3 mm pearl bead, the 8/0 seed bead and then the 2 R1 seed beads. Repeat step 5, always on the same side of the work, until you reach the other end. Then place the second piece of clasp in the same way as above, but with the needle in the opposite direction to the magnet.
Remember to unravel the first 15/0 seed bead (the stop bead threaded at the beginning) to integrate it and iron your leftover threads into the weave.
