Cut 60 cm of thread for a necklace close to the neck. If you want a longer necklace, cut about 70 cm.

Miyuki long drops are glass beads in the shape of drops. You can use them in an intricate bead weaving or simply thread them on a wire or turn them into a charm. In this Miyuki necklace tutorial, we show you a DIY necklace design where the Long Drops are strung among Miyuki seed beads. Each bag of Long Drop beads contains about 140 drops. So you can make a lot of necklaces with this amount. Here we have chosen to put 3 pastel colors on one necklace, but you can also make several necklaces with one color.
On our site you can also find Miyuki mini drops which are a smaller version of the long drops. Miyuki does not only make delica and rocailles. Don't hesitate to check out their other beads which may give you new jewelry ideas.
The necklace made in this tutorial is very close to the neck. Think about extending it if you wish. For example, you can repeat the sequence of pink seed beads and gold drops a few more times. The gold drops have duracoat protection. This means that a protective varnish covers the beads. This varnish will ensure the durability of the gold. No more pearls that change color!
This necklace can be worn with white or cream clothes to highlight the pretty pastel colors. Combine it with a denim jacket for a retro 2000's style.
In the list of materials, we have put golden stainless steel primers, except for the bead covers that do not exist in this material for this size and the beads to crush. The golden stainless steel bead covers are only available in 5 mm. We have put this reference in the variations section at the bottom of the page. It is better to choose brass or another soft metal for the beads to be crushed rather than stainless steel which is harder and more brittle. As they will be hidden by the bead cover, it is not a problem if they are made of brass.
Cut 60 cm of thread for a necklace close to the neck. If you want a longer necklace, cut about 70 cm.
Thread a crush bead, a closed ring and iron through the crush bead. Place it at the end of the wire, keeping about 5 cm of wire end. Flatten the squeeze bead and fold it in half. You don't know how to fix a crush bead? Check out this video: How to use squeeze beads.
Put a pearl cover on the crush bead.
Thread 10 pink seed beads, 1 mini gold drop. Repeat this 5 times and finish the last sequence without the golden drop.
Thread 1 gold 15/0 bead, 1 long pink drop, 1 15/0 bead, 3 pink beads. Repeat this 4 more times and do not thread the last 3 pink seed beads. Then thread 3 green seed beads, 1 gold 15/0 seed bead, 1 green long drop, 1 gold 15/0 seed bead. Repeat this 4 times and string 3 green beads.
Go to the blue part. Thread 1 gold 15/0 bead, 1 blue long drop, 1 gold 15/0 bead, 3 blue beads. Repeat this 7 times and do not string the last 3 blue beads. Now thread the other side of the necklace in symmetry to the first side.
Thread 1 crush bead and the closed ring. Pass through the bead to be crushed and through about ten beads with the end of the thread. Tighten the thread but without forcing to bring the bead to crush the beads. Flatten it and fold it in half. Check that the wire does not slip by pulling on the ring. If the wire slips, you can flatten the bead a little harder with the pliers. Put the bead cover on top of the bead to be crushed.
Add a few rings and the clasp on both sides of the necklace.
