As always, with the release of new beads by Puca comes a new pattern!
Today, we're pleased to present the latest addition, Athos cabochons by Puca.
These are long, flat beads on one side only, which can resemble a cabochon.
Puca has put together a lovely tutorial to help you learn how to set Athos cabochons. After this first step, you'll be able to join them together. You gave a warm welcome to the Alix pompon DIY, made with Samos beads. Now we're showing you how to make another version with Athos cabochons by Puca.
Of course, you can adapt this tutorial to your own tastes by changing the colors of the beads used. You can also adapt the support by easily transforming this pompom into a pendant by mounting it on the chain of your choice.
At the bottom of the page you'll find all the materials you'll need to make this pompom and mount it as a piece of bag jewelry. Adapt the supplies list to include a clasp and hanger, should you wish to transform this piece of jewelry into a pendant.
Place 40 DB and close to form a loop.
Place 9 DB with peyote weave technique
Place 1 R15
Place again 9 DB then 1 R15 and come and place yourself as shown on the picture inside.
Make a row of R15 and come and stand outside as shown in the photo.
Turn over your work, place your Athos and make two rows of DB11s.
Make a first row of R15
Make a second one
Be careful to place your R15 (inserted in step 3) at the tip of the Athos
Make a 3rd row of R15, but for the spikes go to the 2 R15 without adding any extra R15.
Repeat this step on the other side.
Make a fourth row of R15, always taking care to apply step 10 for the spikes.
Make a 5th row, this time inserting 1 R15 at each point.
Place 3 R15 by zipping on both sides to finish
Repeat this step to obtain 3 Athos
Come and stand at the place indicated on the picture (i.e. 3rd DB, 8th DB from the R15 of the crimp.
Place 3 R11
Place 1 R11 and come and zip the second crimp.
Zip all R11s with the DBs in front of them.
You're holding this
Punch 1 R11 and iron in all the beads.
Repeat steps 2 to 7 to place your 3rd Athos
Close your assembly so as to tie the three Athos together.
Position yourself as shown in the picture and place 3 R15, 1T3, 3R15 in the R15 of the crimp. Make the row this way, repeating the operation for the other sides.
You get this. Move into T3.
Place 1 R15, 1 R11, 1 R15 in the T3
Place 1 R15 in the T3 and tighten. Repeat steps 26 and 27 all the way through the row.
You get this. Stand here in the three R15s
Place 1 R11 just above the R15 of the crimp, the entire row.
You get this. Position yourself as shown in the picture
Place 1 round 4mm bead between each R11 and tighten.
You get this. Repeat steps 24 to 30 for the other side.
Place a ring and a pin on your pompon.
Place your pompom and stem in the bead and repeat step 32. Weave a new row of R111 between the 4 mm round beads, tighten and close your thread.
Place 1 8 mm bead and 1 R8, then make your loop.
Place your bead or a ring to connect your mount to the support of your choice.
