Cut a piece of chain between 42 and 45 cm, depending on the desired necklace length.
Today we've decided to combine the trend for rectangular mesh chains with a pendant from the new PureCrystal collection to create this necklace that will follow you all year round. Wear it with a blouse or V-neck top, or over a mohair sweater or turtleneck. The pendant is paired with a delicate 3-micron gold-plated zodiac charm. Personalize this necklace as you wish.
If you're more interested in freshwater pearls or gemstone beads than PureCrystal crystals, click on the links to access our categories of costume jewelry materials. You'll also find a selection of mini rhinestone charms that are perfect for this type of necklace.
This tutorial is perfect for DIY beginners. Thanks to the video, you'll be able to observe the basic gestures involved in creating jewelry yourself (video release September 30 at 11:45 a.m.). In particular, how to open and close a jewelry ring and how to form a loop on a nail. You'll need a set of jewelry pliers containing round, flat and cutting pliers. It doesn't take much to get started with costume jewelry, and having these pliers at home is always useful!

Cut a piece of chain between 42 and 45 cm, depending on the desired necklace length.
Open a 6 mm ring with round and flat-nose pliers. Rotate the ends of the ring. Do not spread them apart, as this will deform the ring. By rotating the ends in opposite directions, you preserve the ring's roundness.
Thread the pendant and charm over them, paying attention to the direction. They both have a back.
Find the center of the chain by folding it in half, and close the ring on the central mesh by rotating the ends again. Rotate the ends back and forth so that they face each other with as little space as possible.
Attach a charm with a 4 mm ring 6 meshes from the center.
On the other side, at the same distance from the center, you'll attach a nail with two pearls. A small 2 mm pearly pearl and a 3 mm PureCrystal spinner. To form the loop on the nail, bend the nail at the base of the pearl hole at 90°. Cut off the excess shank 6 mm from the hole. Using round-nose pliers, grasp the end of the shank and twist in the opposite direction to the shank bend.
Attach 2 other leaf or heart charms and 2 other studs with pearls, alternating sides on the chain. Finish by securing the clasp with a ring.
