How to crochet a sponge
How to make a zero-waste sponge?
Like every new year, it's time to make good resolutions! And in 2020, it's high time to think about the environment and move towards zero waste. Here, Caticoud invites you to make your own sponges from crochet, fabric and hessian.
Ecological, practical and customizable, these little sponges will come in handy every day. You can choose the cotton fabrics you like and reserve a specific use for each sponge (kitchen / bathroom...).
Simple enough, this tutorial is a good way for beginners to start crocheting. For a little extra help, take a look at our knitting and crochet technical sheets.
For those who don't feel too comfortable with crochet, don't panic: another version with sewing will be available very soon.
NB: You can also modify the measurements suggested in this tutorial for larger or smaller sponges.
Tip:
- The 19 chain stitches can be assembled with a 3.5 crochet hook, then crocheted to number 3.
- Stuffing can be made from burlap fibers or synthetic stuffing.
Feel free to share your creation with us on social networks: our Facebook page and our Instagram page
