Semi-rigid 925 silver bracelet with freshwater pearls

How to make your own 925 silver bracelet?

In this tutorial, easily create a slender, elegant bracelet with 925 sterling silver elements, crystal pearls and genuine freshwater pearls. This jewelry tutorial is simple, requires few tools and is accessible to jewelry-making beginners. In just 15 minutes, you'll be able to make a chic bracelet, using noble materials, for less than 30 euros. To make this type of bracelet, which is both flexible and rigid, you'll need wired wire. Stranded wire is made up of metal strands braided together and covered with a sheath to protect them. The more strands there are in the wire, and the finer the wire, the more flexible it is. Here, we've used 7-strand wire to get something rather stiff, but as it's thin, it's easy to handle and to thread through the little holes in the beads.

As it's a rather stiff wire, you don't tie a knot with cabled wire. Instead, we use beads or crush tubes. If you're not familiar with this technique, take a look at our article on how to make pretty finishes with crush beads. Often, crush beads are flattened and folded in half, then hidden with crush bead covers. In our case, the tubes are very small and this method would be too difficult to apply. In this case, we simply flatten the tube with flat-nose pliers. As they are discreet, the finish will remain elegant.

To make this 925 silver bracelet, we also used wire protectors. These bridge-like elements prevent the clasp from rubbing against the wire. This protects the wire. What's more, as the lobster clasp has an open junction ring, it also prevents the wire from slipping out of the ring. If you ever wish to dispense with wire guards - which is possible - then attach a closed ring in place of the carabiner, then secure the carabiner's open ring to the closed ring.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

To begin with, for a cuff measuring 14.5 cm to 16.5 cm, cut 25 cm of wired wire. Add 3 cm for a wrist larger than 16.5 cm. The bracelet is best worn loosely. In other words, not too tight around the wrist.

Thread a crush tube through the two holes in the cord protection. Thread the clasp onto the wire guard, then pass the wire back through the crush bead. Allow it to protrude by 2 cm. Flatten the bead with the flat-nose pliers.

Repeat step 1 at the other end, this time using a closed ring in place of the snap hook. Hide the wire end in the spinner and in the tube, then cut off the excess.
