Freshwater pearl necklace with red charms

How to make a bead necklace?

With the arrival of spring, April's DIY jewelry collection celebrates the color red in all its shades! Called Cerise Mania, this vitamin-packed collection mixes materials, textures and shades of red to create jewels full of pep. Red is the trend color for spring-summer: sunny and ultra-stylish! In this tutorial, we show you how to adopt it in a jewel version for ever more fashionable looks.
Perfectly in tune with the times, the charms necklace continues to cause a sensation this season, adapting it with bold, summery colors. With charms, you can personalize your jewelry ad infinitum: fruit, hearts, lucky symbols... All you have to do is let your creativity and imagination run wild.

In this tutorial, I'll show you how to make a freshwater bead necklace with red charms and pendants. This creation is simple and accessible to beginners. Here's what you'll need for this tutorial: a 0.30 mm wire, an extension chain, a Lobster Clasp, and irregular freshwater pearls (note that the number of freshwater pearls is calculated according to the size of your neck; here, they are all used and the necklace measures a total of 41 cm). For the charms, I've opted for jewelry themes that are on trend again this season: fruits and vegetables with a strawberry, a pomegranate and a chili pepper, but also hearts, which are coming back with increasing force as the months go by, especially the ex-voto versions.

This charm necklace can be adapted to suit your style and preferences. We have a wide choice of charms on our website, so you can personalize your jewel to your taste. As you can see, this is an easy-to-adapt, wearable creation for a trendy look.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Freshwater pearl necklace with red charms : Step 1

Start by cutting about 40 centimetres of wired thread. This measurement should be adjusted according to the size of your neck.
Once you've cut your wire, slip on a Crimp bead followed by a wire protector. Pass your wire through the bead again, then crush it with a pair of pliers or flat-nose pliers.

Step 2

Cover your crush bead with a crush bead cover. Then crush it with your flat-nose pliers.

Step 3

String the freshwater pearls - note that the number of freshwater pearls depends on the size of your neck. Here, they are all used and the necklace measures 41 cm in total. So remember to adjust the quantity when you place your order.

Step 4

Using two pliers, open a ring and slide on the strawberry charm. Close the ring.

Step 5
Freshwater pearl necklace with red charms : Step 5

Slide the strawberry charm onto the necklace wire, then thread on three more freshwater beads. Repeat the previous step for the chili charm and slide it onto the necklace wire.

Step 6
Freshwater pearl necklace with red charms : Step 6

Do the same for the following charms, threading three freshwater pearls between each one.
For the heart charm, the ring attached to the charm is the wrong way round, so you'll need to attach two rings so that the charm falls straight down once your necklace is finished.

Step 7
Freshwater pearl necklace with red charms : Step 7

Finish your necklace by repeating steps 1 and 2 of the tutorial.

Step 8
Freshwater pearl necklace with red charms : Step 8

Open a ring and place the extension chain on it. You can hang it on the wire guard.
Open a ring, slide on the Lobster Clasp and place it on the other side.

Your necklace is ready!
