Stainless Steel Gold Strass Bracelet

Which glue should I use to attach rhinestones to a bracelet?

I've tested 7 glues for gluing rhinestones to a gold-plated stainless steel bracelet. Many of you have asked us the question: which glue holds best for gluing rhinestones and cabochons to jewelry? A few days after attaching my rhinestones, I tried to remove them one by one. The answer is unequivocal: UHU two-component glue holds best, followed by E-6000 glue. Cyanoacrylate glue also holds very well, but creates a white film on metal and rhinestones. It can therefore not be used on visible surfaces.

Two-component epoxy glue is a glue composed of two semi-liquid components to be mixed in identical proportions. The principle is the same as for epoxy resin. UHU glue has a slightly yellow tint, so cannot be used on transparent materials. We also offer crystal epoxy glue under the Araldite brand. These epoxy glues harden after a few hours, but they need to catalyze for at least 24 hours. So please be patient before wearing your jewelry. Beware, too, that they don't work with all plastics.

Rhinestones add a touch of sparkle and personalization to jewelry. Here, I've used simple crystal rhinestones, but you can imagine blue-colored rhinestones, or even gradations of color. This technique allows you to quickly personalize a piece of jewelry and add a precious touch in just a few simple steps.

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Start by cleaning and degreasing the rush with diluted white vinegar, or a microfiber cloth slightly moistened with degreasing dishwashing liquid. Then gently rub the entire surface of the rush, paying particular attention to areas where rhinestones will be stuck. Dry immediately with a clean cloth.

Step 2

Once everything is perfectly dry, prepare the epoxy glue: mix the two liquids in equal proportions, using the tray and spatula supplied with the glue. There's no need to mix a large quantity, as you'll need to make the bead in several stages, otherwise the rhinestones will slip off when you turn the bracelet.

Step 3

Apply glue to the first surface to be covered with the spatula. Pour your rhinestones onto the table. Pick them up one by one with the precision pliers and place them in position. Cover the glue-coated surface. Then move on to the second surface. Leave to dry for 2 hours with the rhinestones facing upwards. So find a way to hold the ring in the right position.

Step 4

Repeat steps two and three until all inter-ring surfaces are covered.
