Multicolored hearts necklace

How to make a necklace with spacers?

Valentine's Day is the perfect occasion to embark on a simple and charming handmade jewelry project, perfect for treating yourself. In this tutorial, you'll make a necklace of small hearts in natural and imitation stones, spaced out on a fine chain. An imitation ruby heart takes center stage, surrounded by stones such as amethyst, apatite, aventurine and lapis lazuli. These stones, with their pretty hues, bring a little color and cheerfulness. It's everything we want: color, joy and love!

You can personalize this necklace by choosing other stones, such as tiger's eye or carnelian, according to your preferences. You'll find these other options at the bottom of the page, in the product variations section. This heart necklace is easy to make and doesn't require a lot of time, making it ideal for beginners in costume jewelry design.

This little heart necklace is perfect for everyday wear, or for a dressier look to mark a special occasion: a date with your significant other? You can wear it with a fluffy V-neck sweater, a little winter satin dress or any plain outfit that clears the neck.

Try your hand at creating jewelry, carefully crafted and personalized. You'll be able to give a gift that's always a pleasure, or enrich your necklace collection with a new piece made by your own hands. It's the perfect way to make the most of this festive season of DIY and originality. Take a look at our other heart motif jewelry tutorials.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Multicolored hearts necklace : Step 1

Cut 35 cm of chain and cut it in half. Open a joining ring using a pair of end pliers and round-end pliers. To open and close a ring, rotate the ends instead of spreading them. Spreading the ends may deform the ring.

Pass the ring over the last link of the chain, then through the link of the spacer. Close the ring with your two pliers. Go back and forth slightly at the end to ensure that the two ends face each other without leaving a gap between them. Do the same on the other side of the heart.

Step 2

The heart spacers are separated by 9 links. You can adjust this spacing if you wish, for example by shortening the spacing between the hearts. To keep 9 links, cut the tenth link from the red heart on both sides of the heart. On each side, add a Lapis Lazuli heart and an Apatite heart.

Repeat this step to attach the other two hearts.

Step 3

Attach the remaining chain on each side, then attach your clasp to the chain ends using the open rings again.
