Cut 18 cm of copper wire. Thread 9 size 11/0 green beads, then 9 size 15/0 white beads. Place them in the center and fold the wire in half.

Did you make crocodile beads as a child, too? Well, here's a project that's sure to bring back memories. To make this watermelon charm from seed beads, you'll need the same technique and materials as for crocodile beads: copper wire and seed beads. You don't need to know how to weave, or be familiar with complex techniques. Follow our step-by-step tutorial to make beaded charms. It's child's play!
For this watermelon charm, you'll need rocailles in sizes 11/0 and 15/0. Once you've created the charm, you can hang them directly on a chain with a pigtail loop, use a ring or the interchangeable charms technique presented by Margaux in her tutorial. Here, we've mixed our pearl charm with other diamond charms to make it stand out. Of course, feel free to customize your necklace with your favorite charms, or use these watermelon seed bead charms in ways other than on a necklace. For example, as earrings, bracelets or telephone jewelry.

Cut 18 cm of copper wire. Thread 9 size 11/0 green beads, then 9 size 15/0 white beads. Place them in the center and fold the wire in half.

Pass the thread coming out of the green beads back through the white beads and tighten.

Reshape the line of white pearls into a concave shape that hugs the green pearls.

Thread 7 red seed beads, size 15/0, onto one end of the thread and pass the other end of the thread through the beads in the opposite direction. Tighten and shape the pearl line so that it sticks to the white pearls.

The next row consists of 3 red pearls, 1 black 15/0 pearl and 1 red pearl. Cross the wires in equally and place the pearl row against the previous one.

This new row is made up of 4 red pearls.

For this strand of pearls, string 1 black and 1 red seed bead.

The last row consists of a single red pearl.

Twist the two pieces of wire together.

Form a loop with round-nose pliers.

You can either place the charm directly on the chain and then wind the wire around the base of the formed loop, or you can wind the wire around the base of the loop without placing it on the chain and then secure the charm with an open ring.

Cut a piece of chain to 38 cm (or any desired length). In this example, we've formed a pigtail on the charm and attached the charm to the center of the chain with an open ring. On either side of the charm, add 3 diamond charms, 7 links apart from the watermelon and one from the other.

Attach a carabiner clasp to one end of the chain with a connecting ring, and place another connecting ring at the other end of the chain.
