You can't miss this trend that's flooding the web: the famous charms necklace! Today, I'm offering you a tutorial to help you create your own stainless steel charms necklace. Ideal for this summer, you'll be able to wear it even when you're swimming!
For this necklace, I've chosen to add a small lobster clasp to the charm to make charms. So you can add or remove them as you like! The advantage of this system is that your charms necklace is infinitely customizable. Make more charms than you need and interchange your charms easily.
For this tutorial, I've chosen to use a rectangle mesh choker to make the tutorial very accessible to beginners, who only need to make the charms to add to the chain links. But we have other stainless steel chains if you'd like a different style. You can also take more chain for a multi-row version, which will be great for accessorizing your summer outfits!
You'll find all the charms used in this tutorial in the hardware list. But you can compose your own necklace by choosing the number and type of charms and/or pendants you want. Be careful to choose the same material for all your findings, so that the jewel's durability is uniform. I'd also advise you to check the size of your charms so that your jewelry remains harmonious. And finally, remember to adapt the quantity of rings and clasps in your basket to the number of charms you want to make.

PS: the 30x0.8mm flat-head nails were used for the ceramic subjects and are exceptionally gold-plated rather than stainless steel.
To start your necklace, you'll need to make the charms. For some, like the teddy bear charm, you'll need a flat-headed nail and One Step Looper pliers to form a loop on the top of the nail.
You can also use flat-nose pliers and a round-tipped piece if you don't want to invest in loop-forming pliers. To do so, take a look at our step-by-step guide: How to form a loop on a pin?
If you opt for the One Step Looper pliers option, the shank may be a little too short for the teddy bear charm. In this case, you can finish closing the loop with round-tipped pliers.
You can then add a ring and clasp to complete your charms.
If you choose the mother-of-pearl fish charm, I wouldn't recommend using One Step Looper pliers, as they're rather fragile. You can therefore refer to our technical data sheet mentioned in step 1 and use a flat pair of pliers with round tips.
For other "classic" charms, simply add a ring and clasp to create the charm.
Some charms are already sold with an open ring. It's up to you whether you want to add an extra ring or just the clasp.
Make as many charms as you like.
For my part, I decided to add 9 charms to my necklace and to have a few more so I could change them according to my mood, my outfit or anything else.
