How to make an easy pearl necklace?
Make this pretty necklace with ease, using a technique that's easy and accessible to beginners in costume jewelry making. Learn how to attach a clasp to the necklace without crushing beads. In this tutorial, we'll tie knots and use knot covers to attach the clasp to the necklace. Why use this technique? Although more conventional and professional, the technique of stringing and then crushing a crush bead with pliers, then folding a bead cover over it, is a bit tricky for beginners. Tying knots is much simpler, but be careful! You can't tie knots to secure your clasp with just any wire. Suitable wires are flexible and often thin. Fine wire means small, light beads.
For creations with heavy pearls, such as a 5 mm natural stone necklace, you'll need a thicker wire or a cabled wire. A thicker wire will be more difficult to tie, and it's not possible to tie a cabled wire, as it's a bit stiff. In this case, you'll have to use the crush-bead technique. You can also use braided nylon or silk thread and tie a knot between the beads to avoid friction and premature wear of the thread. In this case, you can also tie a knot to secure the clasp. Once the discreet knot covers are attached, you can add any kind of clasp.
In the design of this necklace, we've used a T or bar clasp in gold-plated stainless steel. The bar clasp is passed through the ring to close the necklace. This clasp is very decorative, so we suggest you wear it on the front as a pendant. But you can also keep it on the back. Likewise, feel free to change the colors of the seed beads, choosing the colors you like best.
