Tubular herringbone bead weaving is a bead weavingtechnique that creates a chevron pattern, hence "herringbone" in English. Tubular weaving means that the structure created is tube shaped. The herringbone can also be woven flat to create cuffs, or earrings like these other tutorials :
Tubular herringbone weaving usually uses similar sized beads, often round seed beads, to form a tube. Most often they are tubes formed with a base of 4 beads, but there can be more, as long as the number is even.
There are many variations of tubular herringbone weaving, and you can experiment with different sizes and shapes of beads to create unique designs. This technique can be a bit tricky for beginners, but with practice you can make intricate and attractive pieces. For example, a variation of tubular herringbone is the twisted tubular herringbone version. So the spiral tubular herringbone. You will find a tutorial to learn this technique here: Twisted tubular herringbone bracelet.
In this tutorial, we will weave a tubular herringbone on a bridge. This can also be done with rings or even rectangles. The main difficulty lies in the angles. Indeed, there is no problem to make rounded shapes with herringbone, but there is a trick to know to make the corners. We show you this in the video.
The earrings were made with Miyuki seed beads and TOHO 11/0 seed beads.
