In this video tutorial, Paulette aka @Popibijoux shows you how to make unique earrings using two techniques: cutting a polished brass plate with a cutting tool: the bocfil and colouring or enamelling a metal backing with EFColor overglaze powders.

EFColor overglaze powders are coloured powders (with effects, plain, transparent, glittery...) which allow, after baking, to give a shiny aspect to a metal part. Once you have mastered the technique, have fun mixing the colours and create gradient effects or, on the contrary, very sharp colour contrasts on the same piece. CUTTING THE PENDANTS
Choose images on pinterest or other that will become your pendants or you can print the pdf provided with the tutorial.
Glue these images on the brass plate. A paper glue will do. Let the glue adhere well before cutting.
Cut out the pendants with a bocfil.

DRILLING THE PENDANTS
Before drilling the pendants, file the edges and corners with a file to soften them. You can use a 100/180 grit nail file if you do not have a metal file.
Pierce the pendants with metal piercing pliers on the widest part of the triangle, centering the hole as much as possible.
File the edges of these holes to remove the excess metal, (snot), around them.
Peel off the papers and sand the 4 surfaces with the sanding block.
PREHEATING THE OVEN
Light the candles supplied with the baking kit and place them under the baking tray. Leave the lid on.
SPRINKLING AND BAKING
Place the rectangular supports on white paper and place the pendants on them.
Fit the sieve lids onto the tubes of Efcolor powders. Before sprinkling the pendants, turn the tube upside down on the paper to remove the excess powder.
Sprinkle the pendants at a height of about 5 cm to obtain a fine and homogeneous layer.
In order:
- red all over the surface,
- the orange on the top right,
- and the brown at the bottom.
The orange and brown should be sprinkled in small touches for a gradient effect. Add red if necessary.
Carefully place the pendants on the round plate, using the spatula (supplied with the baking kit). Then place the round plate on the hot plate. Cover and cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove the tray from the oven with the small tongs and leave to cool.
FIRING THE REVERSE SIDE
Turn the pendants over on the rectangular supports, glazed sides down, and repeat step 4, but this time with a single colour, in this case red, evenly.
Carefully place 1 pendant in the centre of the chevron support, using the spatula, and place it on the hot plate. Leave to cook for 5 minutes.
The herringbone stand prevents damage to the already glazed surface.
Take the pendant out of the oven and let it cool down.
Repeat this step for the second pendant.
Your pendants are ready for the next step.
Tip: keep the mixed powders in a zip bag for other creations.
ASSEMBLY OF THE EARRINGS
Mount the pendants and earrings on the rings using your flat pliers.
Your earrings are ready ! BRAVO !
