The millefiori beads, which translate into thousand flowers, are handmade glass beads whose technique is known to be a specialty of the island of Murano, near Venice in Italy. This technique allows the creation of glass flower canes, which are then cut into small rounds and reshaped into round, square or other beads. This technique also allows to create objects made with lots of small glass flowers, hence the name Millefiori.
Millefiori beads are coming back into fashion lately, as are other colored beads. The goal is to match them with other beads and create a handcrafted, colorful bracelet for the summer. The irregularly shaped freshwater pearls soften the look and bring elegance to the bracelet.
These pearls are strung on a memory wire. It is a wire that looks like a spring, because it takes its original shape. You just have to cut the number of turns you want and then string the beads. This wire avoids the need to add a clasp if you make several turns. It allows you to create multi-turn bracelets that are easy to string.
The beads associated with the millefiori are 5 mm diameter ceramic heishi rings. They exist in dozens of different colors and sizes. You will surely find the one that suits you among our selection. For a more luxurious bracelet, you can replace them with gemstone heishi and add golden washers in the shape of flowers. Make sure you check the hole size of the beads before you start. It would be a shame if the beads could not be threaded onto the memory wire.
Cut 2 and a half turns of memory wire with a pair of shears. These pliers are perfect for cutting this very hard wire that can damage your regular wire cutters.
Make a loop at the end of the wire and string your beads. After trying the bracelet on your wrist, cut the wire to size and loop the other end.
Add an eye charm between the freshwater pearls in the center and two heart charms on each loop with open rings. If you don't like hearts, we have plenty of other gold bracelet charms.
