In this video tutorial Emeline aka Polly Paint shows you step by step how to make a cabochon with dried flowers and gold leaves. You'll also learn how to play with materials and create reflections by mixing resin with Mica powder.

If you are a beginner in resin, don't worry, this tutorial can be done without any technical prerequisites. On the other hand, you will have to be patient and let the resin dry for 24 hours between each casting. This step is essential for the success of this project.
Once your cabochon is finished, you can adapt it according to your desires and make a unique and original jewel. Here the cabochon is fixed on a setting with jewellery glue to make a pendant. You can also choose to make a pair of earrings or to create a bracelet. For this, find all our gold filled settings available on our site.
Of course you can also adapt this project by choosing another form of resin moulds , or another colour of pigment by replacing it for example by mica powders, paste or liquid pigments, alcohol inks.

To begin, I make the first casting of resin, for this I place the chosen flower in the cabochon mould corresponding to the diameter of my setting
24 hours later, I make the second casting to add my little pieces of metallic gold leaf
Still 24 hours later, I make my third and last resin pour to add my mica pigment
To finish, I lightly file the edges of my cabochon, and I can finally glue it in its setting and mount it on its chain. There is only to admire your new jewel!
