DIY Christmas decoration snowflake glitter Lunéville

How to make christmas decorations ?

Every year, as Christmas approaches, you probably wonder what kind of Christmas decoration to get this year? Well, if you are short of ideas, we have for you in this tutorial an original Christmas decoration idea to decorate your Christmas tree or your Christmas table . You can trust us, your creation will not fail to shine and enhance your decor. This tutorial to create a snowflake in beads requires a little patience and attention to detail, but believe us the result is worth it!

It consists of weaving together Lunéville sequins (originally used for the Lunéville embroidery) to give them the shape of a snowflake. Once the snowflake gets its final shape from the sequins, the edges are edged with Miyuki Delica beads and faceted beads. Tip: Try to keep the sequins in place while working, the snowflake will become more stable only after adding the beads.

Of course, you can choose other colors of Lunéville glitter beads (from the list of materials) as well as other colors of ornamental beads on the borders. You can, if you feel like it, create a contrast between the color of the sequins and the color of the beads. But we count on you to use your imagination and divert this inspiration to make Christmas decorations more original than the others.

Don't forget to share the result of your creations by posting a picture on our social networks.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
DIY Christmas decoration snowflake glitter Lunéville : Step 1

Cut about 2 m of Miyuki thread and thread it on the needle. Thread 6 heishi-styleplastic sequins and stack them in two piles of three sequins each. Wedge the two piles of sequins together, pull them tight and make a double knot. Place the knot in one of the holes to hide it. Cut off the end of the remaining wire.

Step 2

Continue the row by adding 5 more stacks of 3 sequins until you have a hexagon shape. Be careful, with each new stack, pass the needle through all the holes around it so that the glitter stays in place. All holes must be connected to each other on both sides of the construction.

Step 3

Start a new row by adding new stacks (always by 3) to get the shape of a star.

Step 4

To finish, attack the last row of sequins to obtain a snowflake. Attention, the big dots represent the 6 mm sequins and the small dots the 4 mm sequins (stacked by 4, because they are thinner)

Step 5

Here is how to proceed step by step.

Step 6

String Miyuki Delicas 11/0 beads around each group of sequins using the brick stitch technique.

Step 7
DIY Christmas decoration snowflake glitter Lunéville : Step 7

String 11/0 Mini-Rocaille beads around each stack of beaded sequins with 11/0 Miyuki Delicas. As we reach one of the two longer ends of our flake, add 7 beads (3 on one side and 3 on the other, separated by the bead that serves as a tie).

Step 8

Add the faceted bead, passing the needle through the middle bead and also adding an 11/0 Mini bead. Pass through the faceted bead again and then through the mini bead at the base. In the hollows attach a faceted bead. Continue to attach the other beads in the same way.

Note: To get the position we need, zig-zag with the needle from one mini-groove to the other. After finishing the row, tuck the wires into the beads, make a double knot and cut flush

Step 9

Then attach a ring and a chain of your choice. I made a chain using the right angle weaving technique.
