Trio of DIY bracelets in golden and pearly accumulation

How to make DIY bracelets in mother-of-pearl and gold?

How to accumulate bracelets for the summer months?

The accumulation trend isn't new, but it's still going strong, and we love it! A must-have back-to-school combination is mother-of-pearl and gold. Mother-of-pearl to remind us of seashells on the beach and gold to further enhance our tan at the office. Here are 3 different DIY bracelets that are easy to make, accumulate (or not, as the case may be) and wear as you please. And at the end of this tutorial, we'll give you some tips on how to wear the bracelets in an accumulation so you don't look like a Christmas tree! Let's get started!

Have you made all 3 bracelets? Or just a few? Do you like to accumulate? We want to see and hear all about it! Share all your creations with us on social networks: on our Facebook page, on our Instagram page!

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Pearly gold rush:

  • Take your gold thread and cut a fairly long piece (about 15 cm),
  • Start by hooking one side to your rush and twisting it (yes, it's normal if you start over 3 times if you're just starting out), using pliers. If you don't have any pliers, find our sets of pliers to get you started.
  • Thread your beads, here we've used 2 gold beads, then 2 pearly beads and two other gold beads.
  • Pass the gold thread through the second hole in the bead ring and twist again (did you get it right the first time?). Now all you have to do is thread the first bracelet.
Step 2

Bracelet with mother-of-pearl spacer and gold-plated beads:

  • Take your gold wire and cut 2 pieces of 10cm each.
  • Take one piece and thread it through one of the holes in the middle of the mother-of-pearl spacer, then thread 3 golden pearls through, tucking the thread into the other hole and twisting the two ends at the back against the spacer.
  • Repeat with the other piece of wire and the other 3 gold beads.
  • Open the two rings in the center of your bracelet. Pass two more rings through the end holes of your mother-of-pearl spacer. Hook the two rings on the spacer to the rings on the bracelet. You can now wear this second bracelet.
Step 3

Nylon wrap and gold beads

This is the longest of the 3 bracelets to make.

  • Cut 5 pieces of wire about 10 cm long (you can cut more later if needed).
  • Wrap the thread around the rush, starting from one of the two ends. It's not always easy, and if you're a beginner you may (like me) have to start over several times. The trick is not to do it all at once, but to wrap a piece of golden thread with pearls, cut it off and take another piece, so that if you're not satisfied you'll only have to do part of it again.
  • Wind until you want to add beads. I alternate on my bracelet so that it's not regular, sometimes one pearl, sometimes 2. It seems complicated to me to put more, but it's up to you.

For the mother-of-pearl touch, I decided to hang a pearl on one end of the band, but you can of course leave the bracelet gold-plated.

A tip for all bracelets: when you cut the wire, fold the end back against the bracelet so that it doesn't hurt when worn.

How do I wear several bracelets?

The accumulation of jewels, and in this case bracelets, is best done with fairly fine jewels, but you can of course vary the sizes. Are you free to mix and match silver and gold colors? We say yes! And if you stay with the same shades, you can vary your bracelets: a simple bracelet combined with a fancy one. When it comes to clothing, the best thing to do is opt for a sober outfit and plain patterns, so that your creations stand out and get all the attention.
