How to make a woven bracelet with a sliding knot?

In this video tutorial, you'll discover several bead-weaving techniques:

  • How to put the thread on a loom?
  • How to make a Miyuki bracelet with a sliding macramé knot.
  • How to make a sliding knot?
  • How to make a decrease on a loom to finish your Miyuki bracelet in point and many other tips!

How do I put threads on a loom?

  • When mounting the thread on the loom, tie a knot on the nail, leaving 15 cm of thread end.
  • Mount the first thread on the loom. But instead of wrapping the thread around the nail on the other side, wrap the thread twice around the wooden roller before wrapping it around the nail, then continue mounting.
  • Do the same on both sides of the loom for each new thread added, then tie a knot on the nail once all 6 threads have been mounted.

The loom used in this tutorial corresponds to a size XS/S bracelet.

If you have a thicker wrist, take a longer or adjustable loom like this wide, stretchy metal loom for DIY jewelry creation, or follow the instructions below:

How to weave beads?

  • Once the wires are in place on the loom, take one wire and tie a sturdy knot on the first taut wire.
  • Then thread your beads onto a needle. Thread the beads under the warp threads.
  • On the other hand, pass the needle over the warp threads as you pass through the beads. Continue threading your beads according to the diagram.
  • Pass through each row again, then continue weaving until you reach the end.
  • Pass through the beads several times over and under the warp threads to bring the outer warp threads together.
  • Pass the thread back through the beads until you reach the 3rd row, then use the needle to tie a knot.
  • To unhook your bracelet, cut, leaving as much thread length as possible.
  • Knot the wires into a braid and finish with a Crimp bead.
  • All that remains is to tie a macramé knot to close the bracelet.

How do I make a slip knot?

  • Cross the two braids of your bracelet.
  • Tie a new thread over the two braids, then tie several overhand knots without over-tightening.
  • Cut the wires as close as possible and burn them.
