Every designer of costume jewellery with metal chains knows this problem: what to do with the pieces of chain they had to cut off? We have a solution for you: chain tassels! Making a chain pompon is simple and allows you to create original pompons, while using your leftover chains.
These pompons are very easy and quick to make. All you have to do is hang them on a chain like a pendant or on an ear stud to make original dangling earrings.
For this example, we used :
Cut a dozen pieces of chain of the same length with a pair of wire cutters and thread them onto a round head nail.
Pass the nail shank through the nail loop.
Tighten with pliers to obtain a loop.
Pass the nail shank through the loop you just formed.
Put the shell on the nail.
Here's another way to make a pom-pom with lots of chain.
Using wire cutters, cut ten or so pieces of chain of the same length and thread them onto a round-headed nail.
Pass the nail shank through the nail loop.
Tighten with pliers to form a loop.
Pass the nail shank through the loop you've just formed.
