Black onyx stone is not originally black. It is treated by being immersed in a solution of black sugar and acid. The soft, porous nature of the stone allows the solution to soak in. After immersion, the stone is then heated. This is a common process that makes the colour deeper and longer lasting.
Please note that each stone is unique and may differ significantly from the photo. The size may vary slightly from one cabochon to another.
