How to make frivolity lace earrings?

Make beautiful DIY earrings with the technique of frivolity . Thanks to the step-by-step Laetitia alias Plein my drawers discover or rediscover the art of lace on the shuttle . This technique consists of making a set of nodes and pins. One or more shuttles are used to store and handle the wire .

Abbreviations:

• dn = double knot
• p = picot
• + = connect to the picot

PREPARATION OF THE EQUIPMENT

Step 1 :
Begin by threading the beads in the following order: 21 beads 15/0, then * 1 pearl 11/0 followed by a pearl 15/0. Repeat * * 7 more times.

2nd step :
Wrap about 2m of thread on the shuttle. Once you finish wrapping the wire, you should have the shuttle filled, connected to the wire spool.

Step 3:
Separate the beads as follows: 21 beads on the reel (21 beads 15/0 so since are those threaded first), and the rest of the beads in the shuttle. Take a few turns with the shuttle, to block the pearls and they do not bother you when you start to frivoler.

CREATION OF AN EARRING

Step 4:
Take the first two beads of the shuttle (11/0 and 15/0) then form the first ring working as follows: 6 double-knots (dn), 1 very small picot, slip pearl 11/0, 1 dn, 1 very small picot and 6dn, then pull on the shuttle wire to close the ring. The pearl 15/0 is positioned alone, at the base of the ring.

Step 5:
Flip the ring that you just made: you have the two sons (the one of the ball and the one of the shuttle) which leave each one on one side, upwards. To the left, that of the ball, to the right that of the shuttle. Make a roll of 10dn. then put the work back to the place. You must have the first ring on the left, then the U-shaped arch, and the wires coming out of the arch.

Step 6:
Repeat Step 4, but instead of making the first little tingling, you will connect it to the second little tingle of the previous ring. So for this second ring: 6dn / + at the second pin of the previous ring / 1 pearl 11/0 / 1dn / 1p / 6dn. Flip the work as for step 5, in order to start a hoop as follows: 5dn / 3 15/0 beads taken on the coil wire, 5dn. Flip the work again to start a third ring. You will always proceed in the same way as in steps 4 and 5. Only the sizes of the rings and hoops change.

Here's how to work the rings and hoops:

• ring 1: 6dn / 1p / 1 pearl 11/0 / 1dn / 1p / 6dn close and turn over
• bow 1: 10dn and return
• ring 2: 6dn / + at second ring pin 1 / 1dn / 1 11/0 / 1dn / 1p / 6dn close and turn over
• hoop 2: 5dn / 3 beads 15/0 / 5dn and turn over
• ring 3: 8dn / + at second ring pin 2 / 1x11 / 0 / 1dn / 1p / 8dn close and turn over
• hoop 3: 6dn / 3x15 / 0 / 6dn and return
• ring 4: 10dn / + at the second ring pin 3 / 1x11 / 0 / 1dn / 1p / 10dn close and turn over
• hoop 4: 7dn / 3x11 / 0 / 7dn return
• ring 5: 12dn / + at the second ring pin 4 / 1x11 / 0 / 1dn / 1p / 12dn close and turn over
• bow 5: 8dn / 3x11 / 0 / 8dn return
• ring 6: 12dn / + at second ring pin 5 / 1x11 / 0 / 1dn / 1p / 12dn close and turn over
• bow 6: 7dn / 3x11 / 0 / 7dn return
• ring 7: 10dn / + at second ring pin 6 / 1x11 / 0 / 1dn / 1p / 10dn close and turn over
• bow 7: 6dn / 3x11 / 0 / 6dn return
• ring 8: 8dn / / + at second ring pin 7 / 1x11 / 0 / 1dn / + at first ring pin 1 / 8dn close and turn over
• hoop 8: 5dn / 3x11 / 0 / 5dn

Step 7:
Cut the threads leaving a margin so you can enter a few dn.

Step 8:
Close the earring by passing the threads into the base of ring 1 and close securely with a knot.

Step 9:
Tuck in the threads. You can put a point of clear varnish where you cut the flush.

Step 10:
Put the rings and clasps of earrings on the hoop that does not contain pearls.

Do the same for the second earring.
