PART A
How to cover a pearl with Miyuki Delicas 11/0?
Create your own Miyuki Delicas beads with this video tutorial. Learn how to cover a wooden bead with pearls and mount it on a long necklace in primary colors, composed of Lapis Lazuli beads, glass and wooden beads, all embellished with an imitation silk pompom.
The technique used here for the beaded balls is the circular Peyote technique. Of course, there are other methods for making beaded balls. Don't hesitate to discover our other tutorial on circular Peyote: " Making a DIY necklace with Peyote weaving rope in a tube of Miyuki Delicas beads ".
A few tips for following this tutorial:
- By pressing the "Settings" icon at bottom right and then "Speed", you can slow down the video. 0.25 being the slowest speed and 2 the fastest.
- Don't hesitate to use the pause button to give yourself enough time to follow each step.
The diagrams below will enable you to create the two parts of the bead, which you will then assemble directly onto the wooden bead.
Recommendations :
Don't over-tighten the weave, and try it regularly on the wooden bead to check that it fits.
If you decide to change the pattern, bear in mind that 15/0 seed beads increase the curvature of the weave. In this tutorial, differences in bead size are of great importance, as is the tension exerted on the thread.
Once you've mastered the technique, there's nothing to stop you creating smaller or larger beads with your own pattern!
