Necklace with colored bone beads and stainless steel pendants

How to make an easy necklace?

Dive into the summer mood with this colorful necklace, ideal for accompanying your sunny days by the sea. Inspired by vacations, warm sand and salt water, this handmade jewel brings a colorful touch to all your summer outfits. Made with multicolored heishi beads and marine-themed stainless steel pendants, this bead necklace tutorial will be easy for beginners to make, as it requires little technique.

This necklace is also very easy to personalize: you can adapt the pendants to your own taste, or opt for a more minimalist version with a single, wider or narrower pendant in the center of the necklace. It's a simple way to create a unique piece of jewelry that reflects your image and perfectly matches your style. Take a look at all our stainless steel pendants on the site.

Whether worn on its own or as an accumulation, this bead necklace goes easily with a white t-shirt, a light dress or even a swimsuit for a 100% beach look. It'll go everywhere with you, whether it's a stroll along the coast, a picnic by the water or a summer evening out with friends.

This heishi bead necklace tutorial is part of the Odyssée Perlée collection , a series of DIY creations designed to take you on a seaside journey. Whether you're on vacation or just looking for a creative escape, this project is perfect for adding a fun, trendy touch to your summer.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Necklace with colored bone beads and stainless steel pendants : Step 1

To begin, take your Crimp bead, pass it through the bead to be crushed, then pass your wire protection through the bead to be crushed. Crush the bead.

For a nicer finish, I suggest you add a bead crusher. You can close it with flat-nose pliers, but be careful not to deform it by pressing too hard.

Step 2

Then start stringing the beads. Here I've strung 5 colored beads at random, then 1 golden rondelle bead, and so on until I've achieved the desired length. For this necklace, I've strung the beads over 39 cm, which corresponds to 21 blocks of 5 colored beads.

Step 3

When you've finished stringing the beads, you can repeat step 1 to close the end of your necklace.

Step 4

Now we'll add the gold pendants. To do this, take a ring, open it with two flat or round-tipped pliers and slide the pendant into it.

Step 5

You then position them on your necklace as you wish. I placed the first pendant in the center of the necklace, corresponding to the 11th block of beads. Then I added two on the right and two on the left, leaving a block of beads without a pendant each time so that the pendants don't stick together too much.

Step 6

Finally, you can add a ring at one end and a clasp at the other to close the necklace.

Step 7

You can also make the necklace without the pendants. Here's how it looks when finished.
