Y necklace with pearly pearls and crystal

How to make a Y necklace for the holidays?

Our dearest designers, November has just begun, and a new month means a new collection of DIY jewelry. Without further ado, I'd like to invite you to discover our first tutorial for the Bal d'Hiver collection. In this elegant tutorial, we invite you to plunge into the refined world of Lady Perlington with the creation of a Y necklace, also known as a cravat necklace. In vogue for some time now, this necklace is the perfect way to dress up the neckline of your evening gown.

Imagine yourself in a sumptuous salon, surrounded by the glow of chandeliers and the murmur of champagne flutes. This Y necklace is the perfect accessory to brighten up your outfit, whether for the festive season or any other evening. Made from a chain of pearly pearls and a fine mesh gold chain, embellished with a round spacer and a small sparkling crystal, it's sure to be a hit with your guests. In this tutorial, I've chosen to attach a blue PureCrystal 6430 8 mm pendant to the end of the chain to add a touch of color to the jewelry. But you can replace this crystal with anything else: a bow charm, a pearly pearl, a PureCrystal pendant, ... Let your imagination run wild, and your creation will be as unique as a Lady Perlington revelation.

Don't forget to share your creation with us on social networks by mentioning @perlesandco on your publication. Who knows, maybe your creation will be the subject of a future whisper in Lady Perlington's column.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Y necklace with pearly pearls and crystal : Step 1

Start by cutting a piece of chain with the 24 cm pearly beads and a piece with the 18 cm gold chain.

Step 2
Y necklace with pearly pearls and crystal : Step 2

Take the smallest rings (4x0.4) and add one at each end of the chain.

Step 3
Y necklace with pearly pearls and crystal : Step 3

Then take the round spacer and, using one of the large rings (7x0.7), add the gold chain.

Step 4

Then add the pearl chain. To do this, pass your chain inside the spacer, then pass one end back through the spacer to get that wrap-around effect.

I recommend securing this turn of chain with a 7x0.7 ring, just as you did with the other chain. This will prevent your chain from slipping.

Step 5
Y necklace with pearly pearls and crystal : Step 5

At the end of your chain, take a medium-sized ring (5x0.8) and hang the small crystal.

Step 6
Y necklace with pearly pearls and crystal : Step 6

At the other two ends, add a 5x0.8 ring and add the clasp on one of the two chains.
