How to weave half-moon beads?

Follow this step-by-step tutorial to make an original women's necklace with a pendant woven from Miyuki beads. This weaving grid is from the cherry blossom miyuki weaving kit, which was released in 2018 as a limited edition. It's no longer on sale, so we thought it would be nice to share it with those who missed out.

Usually, we suggest weaving seed beads around a circle or hollowed-out drop, as in this creole earring tutorial. This time, however, we've chosen to shake things up a bit, with a half-moon weaving ring. Rest assured: the technique remains the same, only the shape of the jewel primer changes. The beads are woven using brick stitch, a needle weaving technique that doesn't require a loom.
Once the beads have been woven, all that's left to do is select a pretty chain to hang the pendant on. We've chosen a fine Forçat chain, but you can also choose a fancy chain, a rectangle chain, a ball chain... Take a look at our chains to see which one suits you best.

And if you've got any pearls left over, you can make other jewelry pieces in the same colors, like these drop ear rings with brick stitch weave. Necklace + earrings: a winning combo!

At Perles & Co, we love to see your DIY creations. So feel free to share your creations with us on our Facebook page and Instagram account. We love seeing what you make!

Cut 1.5 sts of thread and thread the needle. Tie the other end of the thread to a corner of the spacer, keeping 15 cm of thread end. Thread 2 red beads. Slide the beads to the divider and pin them side by side on the outside of the divider. Attach the second bead to the spacer by wrapping the thread around the bar of the spacer and back into the bead from below.

Cut the chain to the desired length. Attach the chain directly to the necklace by sewing it on. Thread through the last link of the chain, then the bead indicated. Do this 3 times.
