How to make bangs with soft beads?

In this miyuki earring tutorial, we are not going to use the same wire as usual. Are you a fan of fireline or miyuki nylon wire? That's a good thing, but in order to have pearl bangs that don't bounce on our earrings, we're going to use sewing thread this time. And yes, yet we often tell you not to use this thread for bead weaving because it is fragile! Well, it is. This thread will be more fragile and will have a tendency to make knots, which does not facilitate weaving at all! However, it is very flexible. With miyuki yarn, your bangs will tend to curl and with fireline yarn, they will curl. No other choice but to use this sewing thread. Other tricks exist, but they don't allow to obtain such a flexible result.

We used gold filled half hoop earrings as a support for our beads. They come in 3 different sizes. The first line of Miyuki delica beads is woven with brick stitch (pink box on the picture) and the rest of the beads are woven with the beaded fringe technique.

Once again, we chose Miyuki delica hex cut beads to make these earrings. They are faceted delica. They are not very well known, but they are very nice. The golden delica are classic golden ones. You can also weave these earrings with classic delica.

Tutorial steps

Step 1
Miyuki Pearl Earrings Half hoop and beaded fringe : Step 1

Cut 1.5 m of thread. Tie it on the flat part of the creole with a double knot. Keep 10 cm of the thread end. Thread two delica hex cuts and pass the thread around the bar of the creole, holding the beads down. Return to the second bead and tighten. You can see the technique on video in this tutorial: Miyuki weaving around a ring.

Step 2

Turn in the first bead, then in the second to squeeze the two beads together.

Step 3

Thread a new bead and secure it by passing the wire around the creole bar and then back into the bead. Tighten. Repeat this step until you have attached a total of 9 beads.

Step 4

String the beads of the first fringe.

Step 5
Miyuki Pearl Earrings Half hoop and beaded fringe : Step 5

Go back through all the beads without going back through the very last one. Be careful not to pass the needle through the thread, as you may get a knot. Work your way up to the bead that is attached by brick stitch.

Step 6

To move on to the next fringe, simply go through the previous bead that was brick stitched and then string the fringe beads and repeat step 5.

Step 7

At the end, make the last fringe and tie the two threads with a double knot. Then, iron them in the last fringe to hide the ends of the thread and cut them. Put some varnish on the thread at the level of the bar of the creole to avoid that it wears out too quickly.

Veramente molto carini! Bisogna stare un po' attenti a eventuali nodi che si formano nel filo, ma basta ogni tanto far girare l'ago lasciandolo penzolare col filo, come si fa nel punto croce. Ve li consiglio!
