What is gold filled?
Gold filled is the treatment of a metal (often brass) using a mechanical process to apply a layer of gold alloy of varying titration. The weight of gold alloy corresponds to 1/20 of the total weight of the product.

Much more resistant than conventional gold plating, a gold-filled product will oxidize much more slowly.
If you want to further slow down the oxidation process, you should handle these components with gloves and avoid contact with perfumes, skin oils and lotions. You should also keep them in a dry, temperate place.
