The diamond pattern can be used as well in decoration as in micro-macramé to make a bracelet. Only the size of the macramé thread changes. Use a wire of about 1 mm to make a macramé bracelet. The silver wire used in this tutorial is 1.2 mm in diameter. It also comes in gold and hundreds of other colours. It is a waxed thread from Linhasita, a brand specializing in threads for making macramé jewelry.
This thread is synthetic and melts when heated. However, shiny threads tend to form a flame more easily when burned, so be very careful and blow on the flame to put it out. You can also use jewellery glue or UV LED resin as a supplement or replacement to secure the wires once the bracelet is finished.
The diamond pattern is formed by knotting wires on a "guide" wire that will be oriented obliquely to form the diamond. Each wire must be knotted at least twice on the guide wire with a half-key knot in order to hold. Tighten the knots each time. Interested in other types of knots? Go to our other video to discover the 11 basic macramé knots.
To embellish the bracelet, we added beads to the thread. These are Miyuki delicas 10/0 beads. You don't have to add them and you can replace them by other beads. However, make sure that the size of the wire is compatible with the size of the beads' hole. And if you don't like the gold/silver mix, you can find the same beads in a silver version at the bottom of the page. We've also added some other thread colors so you can have more choices.
