It is very easy to create your own earrings with gemstones. Perles and Co offers a wide choice of gemstone pendants, beads and stone cabochons, ranging from Lapis Lazuli to tiger's eye. Choose your project and your stone and let's go to the special beginner's jewellery assembly !
For this tutorial, you'll need a pair of round pliers, a ruler, a marker and some strong bi-component glue. This is a glue made of two pastes that harden in a few hours, a bit like resin. If you want to glue metal elements on the stones you will need a very good glue.
The only difficulty of this tutorial is to succeed in gluing the small stars at the same place on the two pendants so that the earrings are symmetrical.
The stones are set in 925 silver and the ear studs are in fine silver plating. The small stars are in silver plated brass. These Lapis Lazuli pendants weigh 7,5 g each. This makes them a bit heavy. You can also use these pendants to make long necklaces. The material to make a sautoir has been added to the list of materials at the bottom of the page, in the variation section.
These pendants are also available in Amethyst , Quartz, Onyx, Labradorite and many others. You will also find them in gold finish.
Place the first star on the pendant. Measure its location and make a small dot with a marker where you are going to stick it on each of the pendants. Make the dot in a place that will be covered by the star.
Mix the two parts of the glue according to the instructions and apply it to the solid parts of the star with a toothpick or nail. Use pliers to hold the star and place it on the pendant over your marker. Wait 24 hours before adding the ear studs. Open the ear stud ring with pliers by twisting the end of the ring, slide the pendant in the right direction and close the ring.
