DIY 3 in 1 message jewel made of heishi shell and letter beads

DIY - How to create a message jewel?

As a choker, as a double or triple wrap bracelet, as a mobile phone jewel, wear this message jewel according to your desires of the moment! Entirely made of heishi pearls , you can vary the materials and colors for a unique and original result.

You surely know it, the jewel with message, it is THE trend of the moment. The association of gold metal with heishis pearls in shell, mother of pearl or tinted howlite pearls will give you a jewel with a surfing spirit while remaining chic to wear it in all situations. Make it perfectly symmetrical or completely asymmetrical according to your taste. Either way, you won't leave this boho-chic jewel behind all summer long! It's up to you!

Tutorial steps

Step 1

Start by measuring the necessary length of the area for which you want to create the jewel: bracelet, necklace, anklet, mobile phone jewel...
You can also try to find an intermediate measurement that will allow you to create a 3 in 1 jewel that will fit around your neck, your wrist or your phone.

Step 2

Cut the required length of cable with a pair of wire cutters.
Thread your cable through a squeeze bead, then pass your cable through the closed ring of your clasp before returning to the squeeze bead.
Tighten your squeeze bead with a flat clip. Place a squeeze bead cover over the squeeze bead and gently squeeze it with a pair of flat pliers (you can use nylon tips to avoid marking the metal). Your squeeze bead is now hidden by a pretty gold bead.

NB: You can also, if you wish, choose to use a wire protector before passing the cable through the ring of your clasp.

Step 3

You can now string your different beads in the order you want. Here, it is a quasi-symmetrical heishis bead string, with the word "Amore" off-center. Here is the detail of the bead sequence made on one side and reproduced identically on the other side.
You can of course give free rein to your imagination and adapt this bead sequence according to your desires:

  • 5 heishi beads (PH) white shell
  • 1 PH golden metal - 9 PH mother of pearl - 1 PH golden metal
  • 10 PH white shell
  • 1 PH gold plated metal - 5 PH multicolored howlite - 1 PH gold plated metal
  • 12 PH white shell - 3 PH gilt metal - 12 PH white shell
  • 1 PH gilt metal - 10 PH mother of pearl - 1 PH gilt metal
  • 10 PH white shell - 1 round golden pearl between each letter of your word - 18 PH white shell (so as to offset the word)
  • 13 Ph golden metal - 10 Ph white shell*** (so as to make the word off-center)
  • Repeat the initial sequence, reversing the direction of the steps.
Step 4

Close your jewel by repeating step 2 again. You can either decide to close your jewel with a ring in which the lobster clasp can be fixed, or you can place another lobster clasp to link them together. This closing system can be practical if you decide to use this jewel as a phone accessory or as a chain for glasses. Nothing prevents you from wearing it also as a necklace, bracelet or anklet even with this closing system.

Your jewel is finished, it is up to you to decide how to wear it!
