Thanks to Miyakozuka's Le Cloud Gourmand for this cute little tutorial!
* For hook size, it all depends on how you crochet: if you tend to pull the thread, then take a 4mm hook.
If, like me, you do not like to pull on the thread (and thus avoid a good cramp on your fingers!), Use a 2.5mm hook. This allows to have a very dense mesh, without exerting tension on the wire.
Abbreviations:
tight mesh (ms), slip stitch (mc), flange (B), increase (aug), decrease (sun)
Step 1 :
Magic ring: 6 ms.
2nd step :
1 aug in each ms of the previous row.
Step 3:
[1 aug + 1 ms] x 6.
Step 4:
1 ms; [1 aug + 2 ms] x 5; 1 aug; 1 ms.
Step 5:
1 ms in each ms of the previous row.
Step 6:
[1 aug + 3ms] x 6.
Step 7:
1 ms in each ms of the previous row.
Step 8:
1 ms in each ms of the previous row.
Step 9:
1 dim + 3 ms] x 6
Place the safety eyes between turns 7 and 8 and make sure to have a space of 7 stitches between the two eyes.
Step 10:
1ms; [1 dim + 2 ms] x 5; 1dim; 1 ms.
Step 11:
/! Only in the front strand of the close stitches of the previous round /! : 1 ms; [2 B in the next ms] x 2; 1 mc; [2 B in the next ms] x2; 1 mc ... Repeat flanges and sts until end of turn.
Step 12:
This is sort of the "11bis" step since we are going to work in the back strands that we left in the previous step: [1 dim + 1 ms] x 6
Begin to stuff the stuffed animal firmly with the cotton wool.
Step 13:
/! Only in the before strand of the ms of the previous turn /! : 6 decreases.
Step 14:
Make an MC in the first stitch of the previous round. Cut the thread leaving enough length to close the stuffed animal. Pass the thread through the loop of the MC and pull on the thread. Finish stuffing. Thread the thread through a needle and close the stuffed toy.
Sew the mouth with the black thread. Sew the button or knot with the colored thread. Using pliers, open the joining ring, slip it into a mesh at the top of the stuffed animal and close the ring. Fix the strap by passing the clasp in the ring.
