Pearly beads and freshwater pearls in irregular shapes have been a staple of recent years. They're back with a vengeance, with their vintage, classic feel for a slightly preppy look. Pair them with earstuds in the same baroque style for vintage earrings, or string them on chains to create dangling earrings. You can add a little more whimsy to your earrings by choosing a less classic color of beads.

Thread the beads onto two flat-headed nails. Cut the nails 1 cm from the hole in each bead.
Bend the nails at the base of the hole at 90°.
Use round-nose pliers to form a loop in the opposite direction to the fold.
Before closing the loop, slip the stud ring into it.
