How to make a DIY latch hooking saucer?
Latch hooking is making a comeback. Originally designed for rugs, it is now used for a wide range of accessories. Knotted stitch will add a touch of color to your home, enhancing everyday objects such as hangings, bags, cushions and even comforters...
Designer Julie Robert has revisited this simple canvas technique to create a saucer. If you'd like to think about it further, take a look at our wool, knitting and crochetbooks, including Julie Robert's latest - Techniques et créations - Point noué et Ciepublished by Editions Marabout.
This tutorial requires the use of an iron.
Thanks to Julie Robert and Editions Marbout for sharing her tutorial.
Before you begin :
Cut strands of your 4 colors of cotton about 12 cm long and group them by color to make 4 bundles.
To prepare your strands, go around a 12 cm cardboard card a number of times (you can count the stitches to be tied beforehand to make only the number of strands needed) and cut at the top and bottom.
Step 1:
Draw the pattern on the canvas, referring to plate 3, or trace it freehand.

Step 2:
Make sky-blue curls, starting at the bottom left, then cream curls.

Step 3:
Fill in the center with black curls.

Step 4:
Finish with the mustard cotton for the top curls.

Step 5:
Cut the canvas around the pattern, about 1 cm from the work. Fold the edges to the reverse, using the tip of a hot iron.

Step 6:
Cut the fusible webbing to size. Glue it to the reverse side with the iron to secure the loop threads and prevent them from unravelling.

Your saucer is now finished! Now you can invite your friends over for tea and enjoy a relaxing moment contemplating your creations.
